"I can't believe your going on a date with Jack!" Ali's high pitched scream pierced through the room.
"Ow!"
"Sorry" she apologetically smiled, even though I knew she wasn't truly sorry for making me deaf.
"Trust me, I'm not happy about it."
Let me explain. I lost a bet to Jack. Me and my big ass mouth! We hung out after school a couple days ago and played basketball in the local park. The park was amazing, it had a basketball court, a tennis court, a general sports centre beside it, the kids area, a "kiddie park as Jack calls it, a beautiful pond area completed with duck and breathtaking white swans. Don't judge me! I've never been to a park that beautiful.
Anyway we were playing basketball and I opened my big trumpet and I bet that I could shoot five times straight into the basket from any point from the three point line. Stupid!
It was going well for the first four, then I got cocky and shot the last one with my back turned- in my defender I almost made it. Jack named his price, a date in public with only us two.
Basketball was always a bonding moment for my dad and I. It sounds weird because I'm a girl, right? Well it was something that has always meant a lot to me and I felt really lucky to share that with Jack. My subconscious is constantly badgering me about how I'm
getting too close to someone I've only met for five minutes, but I just can't help myself with Jack, he just understands me without knowing everything, and that is something worth my trust.
"You know...he's just going to embarrass you." Ali gave me the I-know-Everything-about-Jack-Listen-To-Me-Look. At least that's what I think the look meant.
"Stop giving me that look." I replied in the most childish whine I could muster.
"I don't know what your talking about."
"But seriously please don't go."
"I have to Ali, a bet is a bet."
"The saying is a promise is a promise."
"I'm pretty sure it's a bet is a bet."
'It's a promise is a promise'
"Oh shut up!"
I looked at Ali as she stared at me wide eyes open.
"Did I say that out loud?"
She nodded slowly.
"I was talking to myself, I'm sorry.."
"okay.. We have to get to class."
'Great now she thinks your a psycho bïtčh'
I really need to stop talking to myself.
❤️❤️❤️
Later that day the results for the cheerleading positions were up. I have to say I was nervous as hell and couldn't feel my own fingers as I had been biting them during my lessons. As I walked up to the sheet my head bïtčh kicked in.
'you know you'll never make it, why do you even care anyway?'
I ignored the bïtčh and carried on walking. I looked down and saw a tick next to my name. I jumped up and down like a little girl, before I composed myself and tried to act normal. However normal to me is swing back and forth looking at my name before I turn around ,try to walk cool, and then bump into a hard chest and almost fall flat on my face.
"Oh, umm sorry."
I looked up before I scowled, but before I could say anything Zack beat me to the chase.
"Sure thing. Sweetpea."
"Eww. Don't ever call me that again, ya nasty."
"Hahahaha.. ya nasty?"
"Don't ask."
"Why? I'm very much curious as to why you would chose those exact words."
"Because I can."
"Because you can?"
"Because I can."
With that settled I ran of to the lunch hall to thank the girls for letting me in.
❤️❤️❤️
Later that evening was the dreaded date, and I really mean it when I say dreaded. I couldn't find anything to wear and my brother wasn't helping either.
"Ewww... stop trying you look ugly everyday anyway."
"You little assh-"
"Oh darling you look beautiful.."
"Really... you don't think it's too much?"
"Have you seen the houses of the other kids at your school? They are humongous.. anywhere Jack's taking you will probably a five star restaurant."
"How would you know that?"
"I'm a mother. I know things. Plus I met with Jack's mother today and by the look of things she's no short of money."
"Why did you meet with Jack's mom? Are you selling them a house?"
"Yea. She buys and rents a couple houses in the area."
"Oh ok."
"Oh and she invited us to have dinner next Saturday night."
"Wha-?"
Before I could say anything else she scrambled of downstairs, probably to watch some British soap opera. Mom loves anything British. Before I knew it the doorbell went, when I was satisfied with my makeup I slowly walked downstairs.
I wore a pastel pink short flared dress, with slightly darker pink velvet material shoes. I kept my makeup to a minimum with eyeliner, pink eyeshadow and dark pink lipgloss. I also curled my hair to give a 'bouncier' look.
I saw Jack and I could honestly say he looked dashing. His blonde hair was jelled back, he was in a pale blue shirt and navy blue tie and pants, he also wore brown shoes and had a red rose in his hand.
"This is for you." He said as soon as I reached him.
"Thank you."
"We should go.." Jack interrupted our gaze.
"Bye kids have fun." my mother said as I handed my rose to her.We drove about 20 minutes in silence before I eventually turned on the radio. Don't get me wrong, the silence wasn't awkward, it was just- awkward. Yes, it was awkward. However five minutes later Jack was handing his Porsche to the valet, did I say freaking Porsche! It smelt of peppermint and vintage leather in it. It felt like I was in memory foam the whole journey, I just felt like sleeping- I was actually fighting my eyes. We walked towards the restaurant doors with his hands on the small of my back.
"reservation for Marigold."
"Of course Mr Marigold," The meridian had natural kinky red hair, with gorgeous green eyes, that was looking at me like the dirt on her red expensive-looking stilettoes.
"Right this way."
We were sat at the cosiest seats near the window. You could look over the beautiful city and its breath-taking lights.
"I'm sorry but I must you looked Phenomenal."
"Thank you. You look really good too. This place is wonderful. I can smell the dessert from here. Actually I don't even think I can pay for my food, let alone both of us."
Jack looked at me bewildered, I was confused on why he looked so shocked.
"Did you really think I'd ever let you pay for our food? Especially in here?." He mocked.
I laughed. "I don't know. Would you?"
"Hell... No! You need to sit your pretty ass down in that expensive leather and just enjoy the ride baby."
I clutched my stomach so much that night and it wasn't just because of the food. Jack was not only sweet and rich, but he sure was hilarious. He should really consider being a stand- up comedian, I think I even snorted a few times.
The night ended with a perfect kiss that I really wasn't expecting. His lips were like soft clouds that you just wanted to snuggle up against, honestly he was perfect!
'Don't get too cosy'
