A Chance For Redemption [Sunny x Basil/Sunflower] Oneshot

Love, Timetravel and Nightmares

Sunny was suddenly awoken from his sleep, by his alarm clock. He groaned and rolled around a couple of times, before finally gathering up the energy to get up and start the day. He walked down the stairs and started to make some breakfast. He was then greeted by his parents, who asked their usual question "Did you sleep well?", and Sunny replied with yes. This was a lie, as he slept quite badly and felt terrible. That was because today was 4 years ago when Mari, "hung" herself. Sunny of course knew that she didn't do it, and the entirety of the blame sat on his shoulders. Nevertheless, he tried his best to hide his pain behind a mask. After finishing breakfast, he went up into his room. He then sat down in the corner, and let himself relax his entire body. And as he slowly fell asleep, he entered Whitespace

In Whitespace:

Omori wanted to go to Dreamworld but he couldn't. The door wouldn't budge even an inch. He tried and tried but to no avail. He accepted defeat, but afterward, he felt a sudden wave of guilt come crashing down on him. The mix of not being able to see Mari in her happy Dreamworld form, and the fact that it was the 4 years since her death devastated Omori. But he wasn't supposed to feel this way. This was his way to forget about everything, so why was this happening? He could not stand this pain for one more second. So Omori then took the knife in his back pocket and plunged it into his chest.

In The Real World:

Sunny woke up with a sudden jolt. He was relieved that he was finally awake and didn't have to feel the immense pain but also concerned about why the Dreamworld door wouldn't open. Did something happen, to one of his friends? He couldn't get it off his mind and since he had nothing better to do, he decided to visit his friends to see if they were doing alright.

But he didn't know who to visit first, but after a little bit of thinking, he decided he would pay Basil a visit first. He quickly got ready, taking off his pajamas and getting into some shorts and a pitch-black t-shirt. He then went downstairs and said to his parents that he would be leaving the house for a bit. They asked where he was going, and he answered "Basil's house, if that's okay?". The parents didn't give him an answer for the first 30-45 seconds, which made sense to Sunny. After all, Basil had been the reason for his missing eye. But after almost a minute of silence, they reluctantly said yes, and Sunny bolted out the door.

On the way there the only thing on his mind was: "Why was Dreamworld inaccessible?". Oh well, I guess he was about to find out. He was now at Basil's house

Basil's House

As he rang the doorbell, he heard footsteps that weren't Basil's coming towards the door. Sunny was pretty confident he knew, who was about to greet him. His suspicions were confirmed when Polly opened the door. She greeted Sunny, but Sunny didn't even say hi before "Is Basil home?" slipped out of his mouth. Realizing he was going a bit too fast, he corrected it by nervously saying "Sorry for not saying Hi first". But Polly didn't seem to care at all, and answered Sunny's original question "Yes he is, would you like to see him?". Sunny replied "Yes I would" and followed Polly up to Basil's room.

She knocked on the door and said "Hey Basil, Sunny is here to see you". Sunny: "I hope he is alright". From inside the room, Basil answered "Just wait a quick second I will be right there" and after waiting around for 10-15 seconds he finally opened the door.

Basil asked Sunny if he wanted to come in. Sunny answered with a quite confident yes, and Basil let him in and shut the door after him. Sunny sat down on the floor, as he wanted to get straight to the point. It was going to be hard to explain to Basil about his Dreamworld thing, but it had to be done. As Basil sat down beside him he asked, "So why did you want to see me?".

Sunny answered "Well you see it's quite hard to explain, but I will try my best to explain it. You see after the incident" Basil suddenly flinched, and Sunny could feel that he was getting into sensitive territory "I created a world to hide away the guilt and anger for what happened to Mari. But today I couldn't go into it, the usual door I use was locked. So I thought it might have to be because of something with you, Kel, Hero, or Aubrey. So answer me this. Has anything strange or traumatic happened to you?" Basil looked shocked and flabbergasted over the news that Sunny had created an entirely different universe in his head to escape the trauma.
