Today's story is by Julia (Andyxsurrera)

It was their much needed day off. Shifts seemed to only get busier as the holidays got closer. The few last shifts had contained a lot of back to back calls and at the end their last shift, all she could think about was how she wanted to find herself sleeping in her own bed with Robert next to her. Sleeping apart at the station was Andy's least favorite part of being on shift mostly due to the fact that she seemed to sleep so much better with her husband's body keeping her warm and safe.

Andy was startled awake by a loud snort coming from right behind her. So much for the dream of peacefully sleeping alongside her husband. When he had told her all those years ago that he snores, loudly, he really wasn't lying. Andy turned to face Robert and just stared at him. She couldn't help but smile watching her husband all sparlewd up on the bed. Loud snorer or not, she was lucky to have him sleeping next to her and he was definitely a sight for sore or sleepy eyes. She decided to wake her husband up to get him to stop snoring since it was only six am and she refused to get up so early on their day off. Once her husband snored again, she poked his chest while whispering his name but nothing happened. She repeated it a few times but his snores were only getting louder. He surely would sleep like a log when they were at home.

Robert was awake from the first moment she poked her chest but decided to keep his act going. He was aware that his snoring most likely woke Andy up and like her, he still wanted to get some sleep in but he never passed the chance to mess with Andy. When Robert felt Andy poking his chest again for what seemed like the hundredth time, he grabbed her into a bear hug caging her in between his arms. Andy yelped and he spoke in a low, sleepy voice, "This is what happens when you poke the sleeping bear."

Feeling like her heart was about to jump out her chest, which was not caused by her husband's naked sleep attire, Andy was sure all the sleep just ran away from her. "Well, bear, it sounds like someone is sawing wood next to me at six in the morning on our day off." Andy fired with a pouting face.

Robert chuckled at her comment. He was aware that he was a loud snorer but found Andy's comments always amusing. "I came clean about my very few flaws when I asked you to marry me, yet you happily married me anyway. Comes with the package so it's too late to have regrets now babe."

He started placing kisses on her nose and on her lips turning Andy's pout into a smile. "Oh I am very well aware of the package deal I made and I have to say the positives tend to outweigh the negatives." Andy gave her husband a flirty smile trying to continue their banter but it was quickly replaced by a yawn reminding her that it was still quite early in the morning.

Seeing how tired Andy's eyes looked, Robert pulled Andy closer to his body and gave a soft kiss to her forehead. "Let's try to get some more sleep." She nuzzled herself to Robert's chest and wrapped her arm around his middle. When he felt Andy's breathing even out, he allowed himself to fall back to sleep.

They both had a lot of sleep to catch up on which made them sleep a lot longer than they usually did on their days off. After slowly getting themselves out of the warm bed and showering together to save water, they whipped up a quick lunch. After pondering their plans for the day, Robert suggested that they would go for a walk around the city. A marriage full of ups and downs like theirs, had taught them how important it was to get out of the house once in a while and set time for just the two of them. Today's weather was looking good since it was not raining so it would be perfect to spend at least a part of the day outside getting some fresh air. And with Christmas coming up, the city seemed like a great place to go for a stroll.

Admiring the Christmas lights the city had put on and the Christmas setups that the stores had on display, both Andy and Robert couldn't help but feel content. It always felt amazing to be together but something about the holidays made it extra special. The city looked beautiful with Christmas lights twinkling and everything looked so peaceful. They both could feel their stress melting away taking in the views and having casual conversations. Hand in hand, Andy and Robert made their way through the city just relishing in the feeling of being together. Nothing could ever beat that feeling.
