Day 23

The keys unlocked the door and in came Robert followed by Ben. "Andy what happened? What's going on?" Robert asked confused seeing his wife sitting at the bottom of the stairs eating ice cream. "Ugh I told them not to sent 19!" She said angry. "What happened, are you hurt?" Robert asked worried, starting to check her out.

"I tried to put the fairy lights around the stair railing while eating ice cream and I guess that was a little too much so I fell down the stairs." Andy explained putting down the empty bowl. Ben know kneeled down on her other side to check her out. "I'm okay guys, there's no need for all of that." Andy said annoyed pushing their hands away. "Andy you called 911 obviously you're not okay." Robert protested. "Yea But it's just my knee! I can't get up so what was I supposed to do?" Andy asked rhetorically.

Ben checked out her knee and bandaged it up. "Did you hurt anything else?" Robert asked. "Uhm well..." Andy looked around. "Andyyy." Robert said stern. "I hit my head I guess, but it's fine nothing but a slight headache." Robert immediately took his light and checked her pupils. "You might have a concussion." He concluded. "No shit Sherlock." Andy countered. "Let's get you to Grey Sloan." Robert said as he picked her up. "I knew this wouldn't end well." she rolled her eyes. "I'll bribe you with more ice cream." Robert promised her.

"32 year old women, fell down the stairs, didn't lose consciousness and was eating ice cream as we found her." Ben started as they rolled her into the ER. "You fell down the stairs and ate ice cream while you were waiting on an ambulance?" Bailey asked giving her a Bailey stare. "What can I say, it was the only thing within reach." Andy shrugged.

"I don't even know how you can eat ice cream in the middle of December." Robert chuckled, taking her hand. "Why not? I was really craving some chocolate ice cream and chocolate is very christmasy."

"You're gonna need knee surgery Andy." Link said. "Ugh great, just what I needed before Christmas." She said annoyed. "But lucky for you I have an opening this afternoon. You are still early on so the surgery shouldn't cause any problems but of course we are keeping a close eye on it."

"Early on with what?" Andy asked confused.

"The ... pregnancy?" He said hesitant. "Oh come on guys! Don't tell me you didn't know!" Link said seeing two surprised faces staring at him.

"We didn't know!" Andy almost shouted back. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I just thought you know you're married and all and I don't know I just figured you knew." He defended himself.

"Yea well we didn't." Andy countered back.

"I know that now. So I'm guessing this was not planned..." Link trailed off forgetting what he was gonna say. "Oh no this was totally planned." Andy said innocent. "I just can't believe I didn't notice it."

„Hey you okay?" Andy asked Robert as she looked at him and saw he was tearing up.

„We're having a baby." he said smiling putting his hand on her stomach. „Oh my god, we're having a baby." Andy said laughing, only now realizing it.

„Let's get you settled on the couch for now. " Robert said as he held open the door for Andy. She walked straight to the couch on her crutches. Robert got her leg settled on a pillow and got everything Andy could possibly need.

„Robert, There's only one more thing I could need." Andy said as Robert was on the go to get more things for Andy. He turned around waiting to hear what it was she needed. „Can you come sit with me?" Andy asked with puppy eyes. Robert smiled and of course he was all to happy to join his pregnant wife.

He sat down on the couch letting Andy rest her head on him. „Can you believe next year christmas we will have a little baby here?" Andy asked letting her hand wander over her flat belly. Robert put his hand on tops of hers. He couldn't stop smiling. „It's gonna be amazing."

1 year later

Robert woke up as he rolled over in bed but only found empty sheets. It was only 6am but he got up anyways to look for Andy. She was downstairs, quietly putting finishing touches on the decorations. „Andy it's 6am what- what are you doing?" Robert asked still tired. „I thought you finished everything days ago." he continued when Andy didn't answer him but instead moved decorations an inch to the side.

„It wasn't perfect though." she mumbled, eying her work. „After i put Emma down again, I couldn't sleep so I just wanted to check if everything was ready." she said turning to Robert now. „Everything is Perfect Andy." he pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead.

In the evening all three were cuddled up on the couch. Robert holding Emma in his arm and Andy leaning on him, with her eyes on Emma. „Hey there little one, you had a good nap?" Andy asked her as their baby girl slowly opened her eyes. „If she's up now we should open the presents now." Andy said excited.

„Today? On the 24th?" Robert asked. „You always said you still think it's weird to open them the morning of the 25th so I thought we could do it like you know it, like you used to do when you were a kid, evening of the 24th." Andy said smiling at him. „Yea i still think that." he chuckled. „Are you sure you're okay with it though?" he asked. „I wouldn't have proposed it if I wasn't." she assured him.

Andy got up and got the first Christmas present from under the tree and sat back down next to Robert. „So how do you wanna do this? She can't open them yet." Robert chuckled. „Hm, I didn't really think that through I guess." Andy chuckled.

„Maybe just hold her up a little so she can see and I'll unwrap it for her." Andy suggested and that's how they did it. Andy slowly unwrapped Emma's first gift and made all kind of funny faces. „Ohh look at that Emma! It's a little elephant." Andy said and wiggled it around in front of her face and Emma started smiling. „Ha she likes it." Andy said triumphant and Robert started laughing.

„Yes your mommy chose excellent gift that you might start playing with some time soon." Robert told Emma and stroke her little cheek with one finger. They continued to unwrap Emma's gift but by the end Emma was getting fuzzy so Andy breast fed her and Emma fell asleep right after. Andy couldn't take her eyes off her little baby girl sleeping peacefully in her arms. Robert put his arm around Andy who leaned into his embrace.

„Remember last Christmas? You were what, just barely 3 months pregnant and got upset you weren't showing yet because you wanted to take a picture in front of the Christmas tree showing off your baby bump." Robert chuckled. „Well i did show it off." Andy protested. „You just pushed it out as much as you could and then you almost fell because you didn't want the crutches to be in the picture." he laughed and Andy joined in, remembering how she lost balance.

„This is a Perfect Christmas. Just you me and Emma. That's all I need." Andy said turning her head looking at Robert. „Hmm I don't know, I wouldn't mind a little brother or sister for her." he said smirking. Andy's shocked look made him laugh. „So you want another baby before next Christmas?" she asked almost fearful. „I wouldn't mind but there's no rush Andy." he had to chuckle again at her reaction.

„Hm well I definitely think Emma needs a sibling or maybe two, just let's maybe wait until she's two or three at least." Andy said turning her head again to emma. „Oh so all of the sudden even two siblings huh, are you planning on twins?" Robert laughed. „You better not jinx it! You know we have twins in the family!" Andy stated. „I think I wanna jinx it, it would be so cute." Robert said and Andy just rolled her eyes. „Great so now it will definitely happen, you even know how huge I'm gonna be with two baby's?" Andy whined. „You're gonna be as beautiful as always." Robert assured her.

He moved he hair out of his way and placed a few kisses on her neck. „Let me just put her in her bed, then I'm all yours." Andy said. She put Emma in her bed and took the baby monitor with her. When she came back Robert had put away all the trash from unwrapping the gifts. He had turned off all lights except the ones of the Christmas tree and was sitting on the couch waiting for Andy to come back. Andy climbed on his lap straddling him. „Merry Christmas babe." she whispered before catching his lips with hers.
