This prologue will be written in 3rd person. But the rest will be in 1st.

The pain never stopped for them.

The two teens in opposite cells screamed in unison as their attackers ravaged their bodies.

The cruel attack involved everything imaginable. Meant to send a message to both their powerhouse families that there was a new chief in town.

Their tired bodies slumped as the sadists left.

She crawls to the wall that they share.

"Are you okay?" She croaks out.

"I-I think so." The boy says.

"Are you bleeding?"

"Yes."

"Me too."

They sit in silence for a while.

"We can't pass out. You know what they do to us when we do." The boy states fear mixed with anger in his voice.

"Okay." The girl replies.

"Talk to me about your family."

And so she does. They sit and talk about their families, about food and about their siblings. They find comfort in each other despite never having met or even seen the other.

They eventually lose the battle they're fighting a slump, passed out.

...

Footsteps wake the boy, but not her. They head into her cell.

"No! No don't touch her! I swear to god I'll kill you!" The boy desperately pleads for them to leave his only friend alone, but it falls on deaf ears.

Then she screams. She screams and fights the men off, but to no avail. She falls silent as her body slowly becomes theirs.

"It's okay. You're okay. Just listen to my voice." The boy frantically tries to comfort her. He knows it's futile.

When the men have had their 'fun' they go to his cell. He looks one square in the face.

"What are you looking at boy?" One of them barks.

"Listen and listen well. Remember this face. It'll be the last one you'll ever see. I promise you that."

The men scoff and leave. But the boy is deathly serious. Dangerously serious. A seed of pure anger sparks in his heart that day. Growing and growing until it will eventually twist and distort him beyond recognition.
