I knew she would let me in, she always had. In fact, she had asked me to stay with her on many occasions, so when my aunt pulled me into a warm hug, I wasn't surprised.

I hugged her back.

Father had always hated her. I had grown to love her partially because he hated her so much. I found myself doing anything I knew would make me different from him. It was Aunt Anna who had given me my first camera, which had broken after 5 years of use. I had been heart broken, my father too as he had started selling my photos.

Now he didn't even have me to sell anymore. I hated those nights when he had tried. But once the men he had offered me to saw me, they almost always changed their minds.

Almost.

The other times accounted for the scars I had on my torso and lower back.

For them, I hated my father.

I shivered, memories getting the best if me.

Anna looked concerned, and her expression reminded me so much of my mum. "Come in, Jay. I take it you have news?'

"I left." I said as I stepped in.

"Hmm. But I take it your bit here to stay, are you?"

I handed her the flyer.

Her eyes scanned over it and she gave a small sigh.

"Well, the job seems perfect for you. Unfortunately it means you won't be here." She smiled sadly.

I looked down, "sorry."

At this, she smiled brightly and ushered me inside.

"You may not be here to stay, but for sure you are welcome as long as you need. Let's get you washed up and ready to go live with them, shall we?"

I smiled back.

The next day.....

I woke up, feeling fully rested for the first time since mum had gone. I was completely clean and wearing a new T-shirt and pants.

Yawning, I got out of bed and pulled on my new sweats. They felt amazing. New clothes! I still couldn't get it out of my mind. After scrubbing me down yesterday, Aunt Anna had insisted on throwing out my only clothes and giving me my eldest cousins old ones. New to me, a few shirts never actually worn. They had even smelled new.

I walked to the kitchen, and sighed when I saw what trouble Aunt Anna had gone to.

I was about to complain that it was to much, when my stomach growled, giving me away. I hadn't had a proper meal in about a week.

Oh if only father could see me now! Taking charity! Especially from Anna!! I would be whipped or worse for accepting any of this-

No. Stop thinking about him. Focus on you. Focus on getting this job.

4 hours later...

I stood outside the flat address, nervous as hell. Second thoughts would be my undoing, ugh how I hate my own mind. I went through a mental checklist to see if I had everything.

New clothes- check

Cash- check

Camera- double check

I glance down at what I was wearing. My hair was pulled back into a plait, and hidden under a beanie. I wore a long sleeved, plaid shirt with a white T-shirt underneath. My old jeans and my new boots. Perfect.

Slowly, I walked up to the door. At least I hadn't had to walk through the bakery that the flat was above...just up about 30 stairs. Whatever.

My knuckles rapped on the door and a voice called "just a sec!"

I waited until the door was opened a crack, the safety chain still on, and a young man with sweeping brown hair peeked out.

"Yes?" He sounded suspicious, and kind of familiar...

"I'm here about the flier? I'm a photographer."

He seemed satisfied when I showed him the flier and said "one second please." He closed the door and I heard the chain being slid across it.

Then he swung the door open and smiled, "hi I'm Louis! Come on in!"

I cautiously stepped over the threshold. Glancing around, you never would have guessed that this flat was above a bakery, as the inside was... Expensive, for lack of a better word.

I smiled shyly, "so you wanted a photographer to follow around your family?"

"Yes, but we aren't a normal family. That's why we wanted someone here to catch all our moments. Your the first one to respond to the flier, so... Take a seat, I'll be right back."

"Alright." I sat on the edge of the soft couch.

This was really weird.
