The One And Only

A new love (Chapter 2)

"Hello Theo, we are calling to inform you that you are hired. Please inform me on when you can start work."

  "I can start tomorrow," Theo replied. "That's great! See you tomorrow. You will have an assistant to show you around the place," the worker replied. Theo hung up the phone, in shock of what had just happened. "I got in??? I GOT IN???" Theo exclaimed. Theo was delighted. He jumped in joy and bolted towards his mother and hugged her. His mother patted his head softly and whispered into his ears "I'm proud of you Theo."
 
  The next day, Theo got dressed in his normal red t shirt with long jeans. He went out of the house in a good mood. He got in the car and was smiling happily the whole ride. When he arrived at the science laboratory, he parked his car at the car park and walked to the entrance of the lab.
  The moment he stepped in, he was greeted by everyone. Theo remembered his ex girlfriend's smile and remembered how she would always go up to him and hug him tightly when she saw him. Even though Theo missed her, he brushed it off as he was about to start work.
 
   The head of the science department gathered everyone together and introduced Theo to everyone in the department.

  "This is Theo, he will he working with us from today on," The head of the science department said. While Theo was looking at everyone, he saw a girl that stands out of everyone. His eyes were glued to the girl. He stargazed at her and smiled at her. She had beautiful brown eyes, straight and curly hair, about 5 foot 2 inches in height, had a breathtaking smile and an attractive face. Theo stared and stared and stared.
 
  "Hey, Theo right? Nice to meet you. I'm Linda." "Hi Linda, Yes I'm Theo. Nice to meet you," Theo said with his heart pounding out if his chest.

  "I'll be your working partner from now on," Linda said. They shook hands and Linda smiled at Theo. Theo blushed and smiled back too. Linda giggled and left. Theo watched as Linda slowly walked away. He was smiling at her unconsciously, almost as if it wasn't  him that's controlling his body. Theo snapped out of his imaginationand went to his office.
 
  While working, Theo said to himself "What just happened? Why was I smiling at her? I'm sure that I am still in love with my ex." Theo wondered and wondered and wondered.

  "Linda, she feels so... right......" Theo whispered to himself silently. He tried to think of his ex and her smile, but it didnt feel as strong as before. He tried thinking of all the good memories he had with his ex, but still, it didn't feel like anything.
 
  Linda was different. Her smile was like no other. Her giggle was so adorable and cute. Her eye contact, it's so deep and strong, I can feel a deep connection. Although Theo was sad about his ex, her memories quickly faded away. All that was on his mind was... Linda. She is different. Theres something about her that somehow makes him... attracted to her. He was uncertain if he had fallen for Linda, but sooner or later, the answer would be right infront of him.
 
  The next few days, whenever Theo saw Linda, he would stare at her and fall into his own world where she was the only person which he was thinking of. The answer was obvious. Theo doesn't like Linda, but loves her.

  Everytime there was a group discussion on an important topic, Theo would not be listening, instead he would have his eyes glued to Linda. Everytime she smiles, Theo smiles too. When she is happy, he is happy.
  Even though Theo had fallen for Linda, he was unsure if she felt the same. When she smiles at other boys in the department, he would smile but feel, sad.

  He didn't let his emotions take over him though. He kept his feelings to himself and never said a word.

  Every night after work, he would replay the times where she was smiling at the other boys. He would constantly overthink and overthink. It was clear, Linda did not love him back. Although Theo was devastated about the truth, it did not stop him from thinking about her and missing her. He would still smile at her and would try his best to make her happy. When she is happy, he is too. Linda meant the world to him. She was the missing piece in his life.
