Year FourA little past 2 a.m. in Slytherin Common Room, the Yule Ball after party was tightly packed with all students from year 1 to year 7. A sea of glitter and black moved to the sound of the music. Some of the Slytherin students, mostly the Prefects, managed to steal alcohol from the kitchens. Bottles of wine and other spirits were making their way around the room, students filling their cups or drinking straight from the container. A pug faced girl pushed her way through the crowd and found her friends, a large blue, slim necked bottle in her hand.
"I got one for us." She smiled widely, her short black hair slicked to one side started to fall into her face. Her blue eyeliner, the same cobalt as her dress, was smearing into her rosy cheeks. She approached two girls in pink dresses and another in a deep green.
Daphne Greengrass grabbed the bottle from Pansy Parkinson and filled the cups for all of the girls, leaving Camille for last.
"Do you want any?" She smiled at Camille.
"Just a bit, not much." She lifted her cup as her friend poured the golden liquid into it. Camille had never had alcohol outside of a few sips of very watered down wine at dinner parties her parents hosted.
The other girls were already a few glasses in, Daphne's skin was almost the same color as the dress she wore which sparkled from the corset up. Her dress was similar to Tracey's but she filled it out better. Tracey and Daphne were opposites in almost every way. Tracey was small and ferocious whereas Daphne was tall and quiet, but the two friends complemented one another.
"Best night ever!" Pansy squealed, wrapping an arm around Camille. The two were fairly similar in height and before Pansy cut her hair, others swore the girls could pass for one another if their backs were turned to you. Over the summer Pansy had cut her long brown hair and exchanged it for a short black bob and angled her round face. Honestly, the change made her look edgier and therefore she received more attention, which she loved. Camille Carrow enjoyed being the supporting character to her best friend. She raked a hand through her soft brown waves and pressed the rhinestone and emerald barrette into the side of her hair.
"Did you tell him yet?" Tracey grabbed Pansy's wrist to pull her attention.
"No, I'm too nervous to tell him." Pansy smiled and looked over her shoulder. Camille didn't have to turn her head to know exactly who she was talking about. Draco Malfoy, a tall, icy blonde was leaning against the wall with two larger boys, all sipping from full glasses. Draco had always had the reputation that he thought he was better than everyone, and he'd lived up to that arrogance. Their families had always been cordial to one another, but wouldn't say they were close by any means. Camille met him the first day their first year. Draco was walking to each first year student, introducing himself and loudly boasting his name. They'd had classes together the first two years, inevitably forming a friendliness that they could form a conversation if need be.
It wasn't until this year that the two friend groups had meshed into one. The binding of the two had been Pansy. She'd always talked about how cute she thought Draco was, but it wasn't until this year that she'd decided she wanted to explore more with him. Camille, Tracey, Daphne, and Pansy began sitting with Draco, Crabbe, Goyle and Blaise at lunch which turned into hanging out with them after classes and cheering for Draco at his Quidditch games. The seven of them had formed a pretty solid group, the silver seven as Daphne liked to refer to them as.
"Just go talk to him, Pansy. Tell him how you feel. He must like you. He asked you to the ball, remember?" Daphne reminded Pansy.
"Will you please just go talk to him for me?" Pansy looked at her. Camille brought her attention back to Pansy when she asked.
