THE STRONG BROTHERHOOD.

CHAPTER 6

     The cloud was shady, the sun was just setting, everywhere looks gloomy. Everywhere was silent until the black maria( the special vehicle used in carrying criminals to court) disrupted the whole scene with its siren as it was about to park in a parking slot provided for it in the court. As if it were a stimulant, everywhere just got rowdy and noisy as the people want to see the suspects to be judged were shouting and pushing each other. Samson was not the only suspect to be judged that day as there were other 5 criminals aside from him including Martin.

     Lizzy tried her best to see Samson in order to touch him but she was unable to withstand the resistance from the crowd, according to law, each suspect should be followed into the court room by their lawyers. Barrister Clinton raised his shoulder in an "up and down" motion, cleared his throat and adjust his wig, he followed him into the court room. Everyone rushed inside as the court room is large enough to accommodate all of them.

     Samson was called to the judgement box. The judge confirmed his name and other details about him, then the proceeding began. It started hot and ended hot as Barrister Clinton put in the best of his knowledge, only God could measure the beads of sweat on him. The other lawyer( Barrister Malcolm) put in his best in antagonism to Samson so that he could be jailed, he quoted several sections of the law in order to ensure that Samson goes to jail, the whole scene almost turned into a boxing ring as the two lawyers quoted so many sections of the law so that their side can be favoured. Barrister Malcolm suggested that in section 214 act 2, anybody arrested for drug business should be jailed for a minimum of 35 years which could increase depending on how sophisticated the business is. Barrister Clinton stood up in an objection to what his fellow mate quoted , he said under Section 304 act 6, only individuals who are 21 years and above should spend a minimum of 35 years in the prison. At this point, the judge reacted that  Samson is almost 21 years of age as he would be 21 years exactly 12 o clock of the next day but Barrister Clinton reacted back that " that does not make him 21 years already, Barrister Malcolm stood up and said but we could assume is 20.5 years already, this statement really got Barrister Clinton  pissed off and asked if that was ideal, the issue of age was ongoing for the next 3 hours. Now, it was already 6pm as the lawyers were excused to get themselves water to drink so that they can cool off. It was at this point that Barrister Clinton knew that he must think of how to quickly convince the judge before 12 o'clock so that he won't adjourn the case as Samson would have been 21 years the next day and he would surely be jailed. So, he went to his office  to strategize again on how he could easily destroy the backbone of the points of the opposing lawyer so that the judge could easily be convinced. He tried his best but the opposing lawyer didn't give up also so that his record can boost. The proceeding continued and it got to a point the judge told the two lawyers that he is tired and the case has to be adjourned. Barrister Clinton tried his best to convince the judge so that he can pass his judgement that day but the judge shouted at him and warned him to be careful.

     The next day, Samon is already 21 years of age, Barrister Clinton was short of words and couldn't defend him as he wanted, the judge later sent Samson to 40 years imprisonment with hard labour. The people shouted and cried but Samson smiled and winkled at the judge , Martin was sent to life imprisonment due to rape allegation, Wesson was given 50 years imprisonment due to drug allegations too, an old man called Barkard was sentenced to life imprisonment after being accused of being pedophilic. The court room became a cavity of tears as all cried but the offenders didn't shed a tear, some of them are still smiling and bouncing. Samson and the other criminals were handcuffed and were pushed into the black maria. Lizzy ran to give Samson a birthday gift likewise his friends in the Lobito mandem. They all ran to him, Lizzy gave him a ring and told him to always use that ring to remember her and she promised she would wait for him as she believe he will never used that number of years before he comes back. She quickly put 50 packets of chocolates in his shirt and quickly help him tuck in so that it won't fall down. The crowd were watching both of them as the scene continued. Then she said " I love you Samson". At this point, Samson's heart went through some configurations and he didn't even know when he replied and he said " I love you too, Lizzy". They wanted to kiss but the warder gave Samson 2 strokes of cane and he  went back into a factory reset mode and forgot about the kissing. I will try my best to always come and see you, don't worry, okay. Finally, she said Samosn, don't forget me , I'll be waiting for you.
