"Well this is a nice change of scenery."
"It's a prison cell..."
"I was being sarcastic."
Ember gripped the cell bars in her hands and hung her head low. Her clothes were still damp and soggy, and her shoulders were slumped, folding her body as if she was trying to protect her last shreds of decency.
Sapnap was sprawled out in the corner, his back against the rough stone wall. They were only taken to the county jail, but they had to share the small single cell that was in the prison. The cops were in the room across from them trying to decide what to do next with Ember and Sapnap.
Ember's mind would be racing if she wasn't still so high. She had never been arrested before despite all the illegal things she'd done. Maybe Sapnap punching Daryn didn't help her case all too much.
A short yet abnormally muscular cop slowly walked into the cell room with his arms crossed. He was standing far away, even though the bars were there to protect him.
"You have one phone call," he said blankly, handing Ember a older phone that had a wire connecting to the other side.
Sapnap stood up fast to bargain with Ember on who their call should be to. She probably wouldn't agree to Dream since he was the one who got them all into this mess, but Dream did owe them a favor.
Unexpectedly, Ember handed the phone over to Sapnap and nodded slightly, indicating that the choice was up to him. Sapnap nodded in return and dialed Dream's number.
He picked up on the third ring and Sapnap let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"Dude?!" Sapnap gasped into the phone.
"Sap! Where are you guys, and are you okay?"
Sapnap wanted to warn Dream about so many things, but he doubted that was possible since the call was probably monitored. The cop was also still in the room, so the best conversation would be short and sweet.
"Just listen to me. We're at the county jail right now. You owe me a huge favor and you know that," he spoke.
"Oh shit," Dream breathed. "Go on."
"I need you to pay the bail."
"Bro what? I owe you a favor, not a whole ass magic wish!"
"I saved your life today," Sapnap countered. "It's the least you can do for me. And Ember."
"I'll be there in ten minutes and we can figure it out then."
"Dream wait—" but Sapnap was answered with the flat line that told him Dream had already hung up. All they could do now was wait.
This was probably the stupidest idea he ever had. The cop already left the room, and Sapnap started pacing the cell. Dream would probably get caught drunk driving, and they would all be fucked. Or he wouldn't pay the bail for Sapnap and they would be stuck in here. Or maybe—
"SAPNAP," Ember yelled, giving him a light smack in the face. He shook his head to get out of his thoughts and looked down at a snarling Ember who was a little too close to him.
"You need to pull it together," she whispered in the same voice that she had when they first talked.
God she was so hot when she was mad.
Sapnap grabbed embers jaw and dragged her face to his. Her hands made their way to his hair. Their lips made their way to each other's.
They kissed with heavy breaths and heaving chests until they heard a door handle click open. Ember pushed Sapnap away and they both looked towards the door.
The cop lead Dream inside.
"10 minutes," he said, and closed the door behind them, giving Dream and the other two privacy.
Dream looked focused, but not focused on his friends. He was glancing around the room for something, panic and intent darting through his eyes.
Ember followed his gaze and realized what Dream looked panicked about. A tiny security camera facing the cell was flashing red for record.
"So are you gonna bail us out or not?" Sapnap finally asked, breaking the silence.
Ember shushed him. Dream was up to something. Something he didn't want to camera to see.
"Well why would I have to bail you out," Dream whispered, "when I have this?"
Ember first looked at the devious smile plastered across Dreams face. Second, she looked down at the cell key that Dream flashed in his palm.
