Chapter 6 - Blade Running
Blade Running - Donkeyboy
"Shit shit shit shit," Zoe says nervously as she parks her car on the crowded parking lot. "Our flight leaves in one hour, people! Let's go!" She grabs her loose belongings in the car, and aggressively opens the car door and steps out as I reach for my bag. The traffic was horrible. We were stuck at the same spot for sixty solid minutes. Joe is really taking his time to get out of the car, and I consider it his instinctive drive to do anything opposite his sister says. I giggle at the thought as I slam the car door behind me, and rush to the trunk to locate my bags. I throw the handle of the bag around my shoulder, and close the trunk as soon everyone has their bags. We all follow Zoe in direction to the airports entrance, and I see Joe behind me, his loose t-shirt surrounding his upper body, and crystal blue eyes covered by his sunglasses.
We have all checked our bags, and we are now running towards the gate, and we hear the too calm lady through the hidden speakers in the airport saying: "Attention. Gate 32 with flight 172 to California, USA will close in 2 minutes." Upon hearing this, Zoe picks up the pace and we all run wildly with our bags dragging behind us. We finally arrive at the gate, and to all of our bliss, the gate is still open. We all quickly show our tickets to security, and we all make our entrance to the plane.
"What? Are you serious?" Zoe says while looking down on the tickets.
"What? Is something wrong with the tickets?" I say, fearful that I have to stay in England for another day.
"I booked the wrong seats, so we wont be sitting together." She says with a much too sad expression on her face.
"Oh, where are the seats?" I ask, peeking at the tickets in her hands.
"We can sit in pairs, because two of the tickets are beside each other, and same with the other two tickets."
"Oh, that's alright, I can sit with whomever." Louise says.
Before I can express that I want to sit with Zoe, I feel a hand on my shoulder and Joe says: "I can sit with Alison". I look behind me with confused eyes, and he smiles shyly and removes his hand. I smile weakly back and blush as I grab our seating-tickets from Zoe. "Ok! Then ill sit with Louise." she says and I move out of the way for Louise to follow Zoe. "Umm, I think our seats are here," I say, pointing at the blue fabric plain seats. I start to move to the window-seat and put my bag on my lap. He follows me and he sits next to me, taking off his sunglasses, allowing me to stare at his sharp blue eyes. "So... are you doing any panels this year at Vid-Con?" he asks, laying his eyes on mine. "Nope, I'm actually just Zoe's "plus-one"" I say as I shake my head. "But I have backstage passes at every panel she's on, so I'll be watching," I say with a smile as I put my bag down on the floor in front of me.
One hour into the flight, and my attempt to sleep is still not successful. I open my eyes with a sigh and decide to pull my chair up. "Can't sleep?" Joe says, not taking his eyes of the screen in front of him. He smiles weakly, and I can't help but roll my eyes. "No," I say, tapping my screen to find a movie to watch.
"What are you watching?" I ask, looking back at him.
"Friends," he says, still keeping his eyes on the screen.
"Really? That's my favourite show!" I say enthusiastically.
"Mine too," he says, finally setting his eyes on mine. Boy, they are blue.
"Attention. Would you all please put your seatbelts on, as we are arriving at our destination shortly," the dull woman says through the speakers, and I shut the screen off, and I notice the silent snore coming from Joe. I look at him, and upon seeing his sleeping face, I giggle and decide to take a picture. I bring my phone out of my bag and take a detailed close-up of him, laughing as I do. I lock my phone and shake his thigh to wake him up. He slowly awakens from his slumber and looks confused. I continue laughing as I tell him to put his seatbelt on. We land smoothly, and were soon off the plain. I can't stop smiling as I realize, I'm in California.
