Chapter 16
Night Changes - One Direction
He breathes very quietly as he leads me out of the room after i had changed. His grip remains on my hand as we enter the elevator, and he pushes the button to take us to the lobby.
"Where are we going?" i stare into his mysterious, dark blue eyes and he smirks at me. He doesn't answer, and when the doors slide open, he leads me out of the hotel building.
"Seriously, Joe, where are we going?" i say with a hint of insincerety, wanting whatever this is to be a surprise.
"Hush, its a surprise," he says calmly, and lets go of my hand on the sidewalk. I breathe in the comfortably cold air, and i notice that there are very few cars on the road. That makes sence, since its about three in the morning. Where is he taking me? He walks just before me, to open the door to a black smooth car, and gestures for me to get in. I skeptically frown at him, but i do as he wants, and he follows me into the car. The car is pretty fancy, with lights at the sidehandles of the cardoors, and black leather seats. A gray-haired man sits in the driver-seat, staring ahead of him. Joe must have used some kind of car-service, but for what? He closes the door, looks over at me and leans over to put on my seatbelt. With the click, he tightens the belt around my waist, leaving a thrilling chill. He smiles mysteriously at me, and the chauffeur starts driving slowly forward. I notice his constant gaze, and i try to figure out where we are going by looking out of the windows. After a while, we drive upwards a steep hill, and I turn back to Joe.
"Were nearly there," Joe says, without taking his eyes off of mine. Another 5 minutes pass, and i feel the car slowing down at the top of the hill. He smiles yet again at me, and opens his car door, and quickly walks over to the other side to open mine before i think to do it. He offers me his hand, and i take it, exiting the car. He holds my hand tight, giving it a squeeze when he closes the car door, and goes to the trunk to pick up a black handbag, which is visibly full of something. He mumbles something to the driver, and the car drives off. We are surrounded by darkness and trees, and i can't think of what he wants with me here. He guides me on a grainy path, covered with pebbles and wet grass. He walks in front of me, dragging me along with his hand. The humid air is filled with silence, i only hear the crickets and the twigs breaking at my steps as we enter a more forrest-like atmosphere, with trees reaching the sky. We keep walking further into the dark surrounding, but as he leads me to a sharp turn, we make it out passed the trees and into an open area, my jaw drops. It's a hill, overlooking the Los Angeles city sentre. Thousands of sparkling stars cover the sky, and lights from the city glows, making the surroundings absolutely magical. I still hear the calming sound of night crickets, and Joe reaches into his bag to get a white wool-carpet to lay it down on the grass, still making the view accessible.
"D'you like it?" he asks in the most adorable shy way, making my insides melt.
"Joe... It's amazing," i breathe from awe at the incredible view.
"Come here," he says, grabbing my hand and sitting me next to him. He puts his arm around me, and sighs happily. He's taking me out on our first official date. I blush at the thought, as he turns his sight at me.
"This view is incredible," i say in awe of the gleaming lights and shining stars, lighting up the sky.
"Indeed," he says, not taking his eyes off me. I slightly giggle, as i realize that he means me. Even though its the cheesiest line ever, i cant help but smile and blush yet again. He reaches for his black bag again, and pulls out chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne. Wow, this is so stereotypical, but i love it.
"I had no time for originality," Joe says, and i laugh as he pops open the champagne bottle. He quickly gets a glass from the bag, but some of the foam already spilt over the carpet. He hands me the glass with a chuckle, and pours some for himself. I move closer to him, soaking up all his warmth and admire the view.
