YOUR POV:

I'm fixing the lights for the set of the play when I sigh.

"How did I get stuck as a fucking stagehand?" I whisper under my breath.

I had tried out for the lead, or any role for that matter, but I didn't get anything. Instead, it went to the most popular girl in school, Lauren Cimorelli. I've never even spoken to her before, but I'm sure she's a bitch.

All popular girls are.

I'm glaring at her while simultaneously trying to screw a new lightbulb into the spotlight, which is harder than it sounds.

All of a sudden I hear a breaking sound and realize I dropped the lightbulb.

"Shit." I whisper.

"What was that?" Our teacher asks from around the corner.

"Oh...uh- nothing!" She shrugs it off and continues helping out the costume designers.

I shake my head and go to grab the broom when I find someone already holding it. Lauren has the broom in her hand smiling at me. Typical. I bet she's gonna laugh at me as I clean it up.

I reach out to take it when she moves it away.

"It's okay, I can help." She says as she moves over to the glass.

I stand there for a second, not expecting that.

"I'm the one that broke it, I can sweep it." I again reach out for the wooden handle, but she turns away from me and continues sweeping.

"You've been on your feet this whole period, it's really no trouble." She smiles at me warmly.

"Thank you." The words come out feebly, as I expect they would considering who I'm talking to.

"I'm Lauren." She puts her hand out to shake it and I follow suit.

"I know." I whisper.

"What?"

"Nothing. I'm-"

"Y/N. I know your name, stupid." She chuckles as my cheeks turn red.

"Lauren, we need you!" An assistant yells from the main stage.

"That's me." She swiftly walks to the stage in full costume, looking very beautiful I might add.

I put the broom away as Lauren begins practicing her lines again. I begin to work on my other tasks, which is a very long list.

"Okay, Lauren, this is the scene you need to work with a partner for. We don't have the other lead here today, so you can just pick whoever." My head stays down, continuing typing on my laptop.

"Y/N!" I look up and see Lauren motioning for me to come over. I'm hesitant, so I look behind me and make sure it's not for someone else.

"I'm looking at you, Y/N. Come help me with this scene." She laughs and I shuffle over to the stage.

"So take this script and you're reading as Romeo, okay?" I nod and clear my throat.

"Romeo, you are my one true love. If our families weren't against it, I would marry you in a heartbeat." She says, fully in character.

I'm still a little butthurt that I didn't get a role in the play, so I decide not to try that hard.

"Uh...Juliet...how I love you so.. Please never leave me." I say halfheartedly.

"I never want to say goodbye to you. Say it isn't so, Romeo!"

"Oh..but it is...Goodbye...Juliet." I let out with a sigh.

"Come on, Y/N." Lauren rolls her eyes.

"What?"

"You gotta at least try." She says with a smirk.

"Okay, well I wasn't even cast as anything so clearly I'm not that good." I look down as she uses her finger to bring my gaze back up.

"That's not true. You just have to...get into character a little more."

"Okay..how do I do that?"

"Well first- when you're professing your love to me, maybe try sounding like you're actually in love with me?" I laugh as she continues.

"And maybe incorporate some movements, like hand gestures or something."

"I don't even know what you mean." I shrug.

"Okay fine. How about you be Juliet and I'll show you how to be Romeo." I nod and she switches scripts with me.

"Romeo, you are my one true love. If our families weren't against it, I would marry you in a heartbeat." I say as she looks at me with eyes full of love.

Wow, she's a really good actor.

"Juliet, how I love you so." She comes closer to me.

"Please-" Her hand raises up to touch my face and she cups my cheek. "Never leave me."

My heartbeat quickens, so I break our eye contact.

"Say your line, Juliet." She whispers.

"What? Oh, oh. I never want to say goodbye to you. Say it isn't so, Romeo!"

"Oh, but it is goodbye, Juliet." Her face is now centimeters from mine, our lips practically touching.

I truly don't know what came over me, but I let my hand lay on her waist.

"See, you're learning already!" I dart my hand away from her waist, completely embarrassed.

"Don't be embarrassed. That was a really good move." She lets out a soft chuckle as she brings our faces closer again.

"Do you know what they do in this scene, Y/N." Of course I do. It was the part I auditioned with. Romeo and Juliet kiss.

Oh shit. Does she mean? She can't- is she seriously going to kiss me?

"I-"

"Okay, and that's a wrap for the day good job everyone!" The teacher calls out after entering the middle stage.

We quickly break apart and I rush back to the lights wondering what the hell just happened.

Sorry if this wasn't the best one shot! Have a great day and let me know what one shots you would like to see in the future!
