Chapter Fifteen

Providence

"I brought the buckboard around just like you asked Mr. Morgan," Carter told Jake upon their arrival.

"Thank you," Jake replied. "Can you help with the baggage that belongs to us, the Wilson and Miss Clarkson and see it gets loaded into the buckboard? Then help a Mr. Ted Ames unload some horses from the cattle car and we will need to wait to unload those two coaches and four boxcars until all the help arrives. One of the coaches belongs to the Wilson's and the other to Miss Clarkson. You will probably need to drive Miss Clarkson carriage to the house since her driver decided to stay in New York and she will be staying at our house for a while."

"Sure thing Mr. Morgan," Carter replied and walked off toward where the railroad cars were sitting on the siding.

"I cannot wait to get home and see Chris and Jessie," Sam said coming to a stop along side of her husband.

"And find out how things are on the ranch too," Jake teased her.

"Well that too," Sam replied smiling. "And get out of this dress."

"Before you get into your ranch clothes I can think of a few things we can do without clothes," he teased her again causing Sam to smile at her husband.

My goodness," Mirabelle said coming to stand along side of the Morgan's. "Would you look at all those wagons and cowboys coming."

"Floyd got the word out we needed help unloading the railroad cars I see," Jim said as he and Julie joined them as the others soon followed them from the private railroad cars.

"I wish I could stay and help," Buck told them.

"Don't be silly," Sam told him. "You are still recovering. You and Emma go on to the hotel."

"Our trunks are still in the private car we traveled in," Emma said.

"I'll make sure they get sent on to the hotel," Jim told her. They were staying there for the night.

After hugging everyone goodbye the two left for the hotel. They would see them later tonight when they gathered at the Morgan's for dinner and leave with them in the morning for the Rocking R to pick up their son Westley.

The first wagon to arrive was driven by Grady Hopkins Nate's foreman with Matthew Connors waving at his mother and step-father along with several of their ranch hands to help. Nate plucked the young boy from the wagon seat and hugged him before passing him on to his mother. Blythe gave Matt a hug and a kiss and told him she would tell him later about their trip and that she had some surprises for them.

Tanner Gordon was next driving the wagon from the Diamond G along with Slim and several of their cowhands on horse back.

Bromley along with Lucy and Rand were the next to stop hear the depot and Edwina rushed over followed by Steve to take her son from Lucy and hugged him tight.

Billy arrived next with John's carriage. "I've been looking for a place just like you asked me to, to store Miss Clarkson's things in. The only place I found big enough is the store and small warehouse that Mr. Fuller's son has up for sale," Billy told him.

"He wants to sell it not rent it," John replied.

"I know but..." Billy started to say.
