I wake up as the beams of light from the sun break through the gap in the curtains. I know those curtains. Those aren't mine. I jolt up, fearing that I may have been kidnapped. I take in my surroundings, in shock as I realise where I am. This is where my dream took place. Maybe I'm still dreaming, but I've never experienced falling asleep in a dream before. Something doesn't feel right, almost as if this world was real. I open up the drawer in my nightstand to see if I can find anything, and to my utter surprise, there's a note with my name on it. I pick it up and unfold it, curious of what it could say. The note says that it's from some or other goddess, and it reads:

"Dear Deisuke.
You might be a little confused as to what is going on, but fear not, for I will explain it to you. You have been reincarnated into another world that is much, much different to yours. This world is filled with swords and sorcery, and is far behind your old world in a technological way, around midieval times. You will soon meet me, and I will explain everything to you in detail. All I can tell you now is that you are dated to become a hero. For now, enjoy your new life, because it's going to be much more exciting than the last."

I'm utterly baffled. This does not make any sense, you're telling me that this isn't a dream? Are you kidding me? This must be a dream, there is no other explanation. My mind can physically not comprehend how anything like that is possible. I always watched isekai Animes, but this is just unbelievable. And yet, here I am. I'm sitting on a soft bed in a village in the woods with a bite telling me exactly why I'm here. There's just no denying proof that solid. No way. I lay back down, trying to make sense of this. My mind is like a battlefield, with things shooting in all directions like start bullets, and I can't think straight. I need to get some fresh air. I stand up and go downstairs. Sure enough, the bartender, Neyo, is there. Breathing. Living. Not just a fiction of my imagination. I greet him and go outside, shielding my eyes from the harsh light of the sun. People walk back and forth, all in basic clothing. That's probably the first thing I should do, get new clothes. I make my way to a clothes store to grab some normal clothes to blend in better. But then I remember that I spent all my money on lodging. Wait, how am I going to get money at all? "Can I help you, sir?" Asks the kindly woman behind the counter. "Ah, um, no. I apologize!" I say, leaving the shop. I go back to the inn, disheartened at my failure to think of the most basic of necessities of life. Neyo seems to notice how bogged down I am, because he slaps the bartable. "Take a seat, kid. You look parched" he says. "But I don't have any money" I say. "Don't sweat it, this one's on the house" he says, and I sit on one of the barstools. "What's the matter, kid? You look terribly gloomy" he asks. "I'm just confused. I have no idea where to go, or what to do, and I also don't have any money, and I don't know where to find work" I say. He slams a gourd of beer down on the table. "So, you need money, eh?" He says. "Yeah" I reply. "Well, then, your best bet is to check out the Adventurers Guild in Garlea" he says. "Garlea?" I echo. "Yeah, the closest city to this here village, you can see it on the horizon" he says. "Oh, so that's Garlea, huh?" I say. "Yep,as I was saying, you should go give the adventurers guild a shot. If that doesn't work you can always start working and the Burning Phoenix, we pay well for full time shifts" he says. Well, at least I know that if I fail there's a viable backup plan. This is all still so unreal to me. My mind is still having trouble understanding the fact that this is real. "You gonna drink that beer or not, kid?" He says. I grab the beer and begin drinking, slowly. The beer tastes good and fresh. It's so refreshing that it doesn't even have to be cold to be enjoyed. I end up finishing it faster than I intend to, and Neyo jokingly drinks the last drop. He seems like a good enough guy, I hope I can trust him as .uch as I want to. "Thanks for this" I say. "Don't sweat it, kid. I'm always her to help" he says. I stand up and go back to my room to pack for the journey to Garlea. Not that I have much to pack in the first place. I grab the note, and the pen that seems to have been left behind, as well as whet seems to be a dagger left behind by the person who wrote the note. It's not much, but at least I can get somewhere with it. "If you're really planning on going, you might want to take this" Neyo says, throwing me a bag. "Be careful out there, kid. The world can be a scary place sometimes" he says, and i pack my stuff in the bag. "Thanks" I say. "No problem, kid. You'll find a few basic survival resources in there, so make the most of 'em, alright?" He says, and I nod as I haul the bag over my shoulder. "Good luck out there, kid" he says. "I'll try to make it back in one piece" I say jokingly. And so begins my journey to the city of Garlea. God, I am so not ready for this
