"How can you mess this up Eren?", I rolled my eyes, taking the mess of dough he had tried to roll up off of the pan.

The two of us were in the kitchen with Armin and Christa, trying to make cinnamon rolls. Mind you, they were from the package, yet Eren was unable to just roll them up correctly.

I grabbed the raw dough, smushing it together before re-rolling them into decent looking spirals.

"I tried," Eren sighed as he threw the pans into the ovens. "We didn't destroy them like last year yet"

It was Eren and I's Christmas tradition to make cinnamon rolls the morning of Christmas. We have been having them since our first Christmas together, and now in college we still did the same.

"Eren, your inability to cook amuses me", Christa yawned, sitting at the kitchen island.

"Why are you so tired? It's ten o'clock," I leaned on the counter, looking over at Christa and Armin.

"Yeah, what were you two doing?" Eren questioned, winking at Armin.

"Nothing that you're thinking," Armin glared at him, "Plus, what the hell were you and Mikasa doing? Since you two are now sleeping in the same bed together".

I blushed, and Eren laughed, "Good question, because I did walk in on her without a shirt this morning"

"Eren!" I gasped, punching his arm.

"Dude, you need to get to second base and-", Armin was slapped in the side of the head by a pretty pissed girlfriend, "Ow Christa!"

"I haven't even gotten to first base, can't skip." Eren sighed, as my face continued to grow even redder than before.

"Poor Mikasa, how do you live with these two?," Christa looked over at me.

"I am actually not sure," I sat down next to her on the barstools.

By now, I heard some of the Jaeger's up in the living room, probably getting ready for presents.

"Speaking of living with us, I have a question for you and Eren." Armin spoke up, looking over at us.

"Yeah?" Eren asked, disinterestedly looking at his phone.

"Christa and I have been talking about moving in with each other," Now Eren was looking up, "But we wanted to know what you two think about it"

"That's really good, I'm happy for you two," I smiled at the couple, and hugged Christa. I knew that it was going to be a big deal for them.

"Why were you asking for permission?" Eren turned to Armin.

"Well," Christa started, "We've been discussing it for a while, but... I don't want to upset you, but we didn't think it would be the right choice with what happened last week. So what do you think?"

I was confused, last week? Then I knew what she was talking about, Eren cutting.

"I'll be fine, don't worry about me," Eren patted Armin's shoulder, "Besides, Mikasa can take care of me"

"Thank you guys!" Christa hugged me once again, excitedly. I was happy for them, and yet I wondered what it was like to be in a relationship like that. I had never dated someone that I truly cared about, considering the only person I had feelings for like that was Eren. I loved Armin, but not in a romantic way. It was just plain different with Eren, and I knew that I would never have a chance.

"Hey Mikasa, can you come with me for a moment?" I was pulled away from my thoughts by Eren, who was standing in front of me.

"Sure?" I said, getting up and following him. He stopped once we were in the doorway of the kitchen, much to my confusion.

"Eren why the hell did you stop wal-"
Oh hell did Eren shut me up.

It was a quick, fluent motion, and it could have been all my imagination. Eren turned, planting a quick kiss on me.

It wouldn't have been that big of a deal, we kissed each other all the time, but this was different. He had kissed me on the lips, our first ever kiss. I didn't even had time to react, it was over as quickly as it had happened. One second, the warmth of his lips had spread across mine, the next they were long gone.

"Merry Christmas, Mikasa." He said with his signature grin, looking straight into my eyes. He then ruffled my hair, before heading out towards the living room.

I was left dumbfounded, staring at a wall, blushing hard with my mouth slightly open. Armin and Christa were silent as well, even though I was positive that they had witnessed the whole thing.

"Did that just happen?" Was the only thing I could say, looking over at the two.

"Yeah, I think it did." Christa said, smiling.
"That smooth son of a bitch," Armin laughed, "Mika, look above you."

"Don't call me Mika and-holy shit." I said, looked up above me. In the doorway hung a piece of mistletoe. My heart was still racing from the kiss and my mind couldn't form a single thought. So I quietly sat back down with Armin and Christa, instead of heading to find Eren. I pulled up my scarf as per usual, and put my head down on the counter.

What the hell just happened?

Half of my mind wanted me to believe that he actually wanted to kiss me, while the other half screamed to not be tricked. To him, this had to be some kind of cruel joke.

I picked my head up, "Armin, did he tell you that he was going to do that?", I said through the fabric of my scarf.

"No, I had suggested that it would be a good opportunity for him, but I didn't think he would have the guts to do it."

"Oh," My heart fell, "So it was a joke." I said quietly, looking down. I knew that I shouldn't have let my hopes get the best of me. Did I really think for a minute that he kissed me because he liked me?

"That was definitely not a joke!" Christa stood up, "He would never do that to you"

I shrugged, and Armin spoke up, "Remember what he said last night about how he would be honoured to marry you? He wasn't making that up"

"Kids!" Dr. Jaeger's voice echoed from the living room, "It's time for presents!"

Oh god, was I really ready to face Eren after that. It was probably going to be really awkward. The three of us sat down on one of the couches in the living room by the tree, and Eren came into the room shortly after.

He sat down right next to me, and started talking as if nothing had just happened minutes before. As if he had never kissed me.

Maybe I was over thinking the whole situation. Nothing had happened; it was just a friendly kiss.

I would be a fool if I thought for even a second that Eren Jaeger loved me.
