𝑱ake and Effy were both currently walking to science class together, it being their first period. Effy had on her headphones on trying to cancel out the noise from everyone. She tried to make it to a desk without getting noticed by the teacher, or literally anyone else. The last thing she wanted to do right now was go up infront of the class and tell them un needed facts about herself.
She sat in the very back, Jake was across the room from her in the front. She soon realized that the same boy from the bus sat a desk across from her. Probably assigned seats, but for now she was just happy there was an open seat in the back that seemed like nobody sat at.
After placing her bag on her chair, and staring out the open window, she was getting comfortable in her seat. Until she heard heavy footsteps coming her way, mentally cursing herself knowing that they were the teacher footsteps. Concerning her heavy marry janes made loud clacks when she walked.
Expecting to get called up and having to 'introduce' herself in front of the class, or get moved seats and scolded at for sitting in a random seat. But no. Surprising, but thankfully no.
Instead the dark redhead haired women walked up to her and gave her a small smile, "Hello, you must be Elizabeth Maeve." The women said. "Effy." She corrected her with a slight smile. "Well, Effy. I'm Mrs. F, and I hope you enjoy first day at this school." Mrs. F said with a smile before placing a metal tray with a deceased frog on the desk and walking away to the front of the classroom.
She looked at what was in front of her, it was what seemed to be a dead frog on a metal tray, with a blade next to it.
The idea of death always interested her, for many reasons being. The way it could just happen randomly and so unexpected, like having a normal day, living your life as you do everyday then suddenly... your not. Leaving you enter life behind, with no awareness of it. Just being utterly consumed by a chilling, empty filled, numbing void. With absolutely no thought of it. Or maybe you did. Like a 'flash before death' type of thing. Or maybe not. Like how suddenly it could just happen, and to anyone, at anytime and any moment. Not even a heads up so you could take time to appreciate you life or something, not even a little more before it all ends... just nothing left.
but that's what made it so interesting. She thought
out of all things that could have happened on her first day at this shitty school she definitely didn't think she was going to slice a frog open today.
While she was contemplating on whether to just do it quickly to get it over with or do it slowly and take time to fully cut it open probably she saw Oliver was bullying Jake, again. She rolled her eyes at him and flipped him off, but no one saw it other than Junior who was looking at her. Who quietly chuckled seeing her flip him off.
As she was going to grab the blade she remembered something "Shit" she mumbled to herself grabbing something from her backpack, and picking up a container, grabbing a pill and swallowing it.
Right before she put on her headphones she heard the teacher yelling at Oliver for picking on Jake. Slightly smirking to herself seeing Oliver being told off by Mrs. F.
She looked at the frog sympathetically but knowing she still had to cut it open. As she was going to cut it open, out of the corner of her eyes she caught a glimpse of the girl she ran into; aka Lexy staring daggers at her. The blonde looked at the frog on the tray then back to Effy. Still maintaining eye contact she picked up the blade and cut the frog open while still keeping eye contact with Lexy. Once she finished cutting the frog open she broke eye contact as she saw Oliver throwing coins at Jake "Don't spend it all in one place." He said.
