It has been two weeks and oh boy I was dead wrong about not having a certain blue-eyed man's thoughts. Those blue eyes occupied my nights like a nightmare, yet these nightmares made me feel things I'd never felt before. The familiarity is still there, like if I've seen him somewhere but can't remember where. Have I met Adrian before? The question is whether I know Adrian Giovanni or not.
With those thoughts I started a new and definitely busy day at the café. "Crystal, where is Aki?" I asked as Crystal took the baked muffins out of the oven when my phone rang. "Ahh, never mind!" I stopped her from saying anything before picked up my phone.
"Aki, where are you man?" I questioned. This guy is literally missing when the café is this busy. "Aria, I don't think I can make it to work today," he sighed, his voice sounded heavy, breathless. My heartbeat accelerated as a heavy feeling settled on my chest.
"A-Are you alright, Aki?" I breathed out, hoping everything is alright. "Everything is alright Aria" he assured. "Just caught flu, so you definitely would not want me spreading the flu in the café," he laughed, yet his laughter seems fake. I didn't want to act like a nagging mother, "Alright buddy, call me when you need anything," I sighed, trying to calm down the disturbing feeling. "I'll send Zac over to your place," I said as I heard him chuckle from the other side. "That would be great," he said. "Okay, I won't disturb you anymore, take some rest," I said before hanging up. The lingering feeling of fear was still there. Swallowing down the fear I started with the busy day ahead of us.
The day went by as usual; students, lovers, families, all enjoyed my delicious delicacies without any doubt. After a long day, Crystal retired, and I was the only one left in the café when the door chimed open.
"I'm sorry, we are-" I turned around, and the next word froze on my tongue. "Miss Martinez?" the man took off his cap, tucking under his armpit as I frowned. "That would be me," I refrained from commenting something bad therefore, I pulled a professional face. "Aria Martinez, owner of this café," I strode forward as I lifted my hands.
"Hello, Miss Martinez," the guy shook my hands.
"My name is Noah, Corporal Noah Williams and I'm from the marines," he said as confusion drawn over me. "And what can I do for you?" unsure about the situation.
"We received information that you are associated with Aki Wong and Adrian Giovanni," he said as I wonder what those two have to do with this. "I'm sorry, but don't understand what's going on here," I got straight to the point. "Yes, I am associated with Aki as he is an employer here," I said. "I-Is there any problem?" I asked as the feeling of fear from the morning surfaces again.
"Aria!" I flinch inside as the man said my name, the atmosphere turned serious which made me uneasy. "Let's have a seat and talk," he suggested as I hesitated for a moment before taking a seat. Noah took a seat Infront of me, a feeling of weary settled within me.
"Six months ago, something happened when we were in the middle of an operation. Things went feral and I nearly lost my team," he started as I listened attentively. "Do you know who Adrian Giovanni is?" he asked as I watched him confusingly as I silently urge him to continue.
"He's gone rogue for the past six months," he stated as I felt myself freeze. I snaped out of the dilemma I was in and breathed out, not knowing I was holding on to my breath. "W-What do you mean he has gone rogue?" I asked, hoping my voice didn't crack. "There are some details we cannot share with the general public. However, I can tell you that Adrian was one of us," he retorted as a pang erupted in my chest. A feeling of betrayal. Damn my feelings are really fucking confused nowadays.
"Things happened and he betrayed us," he said as I let everything sink in me. "I'm telling you this because we want you to help us in catching Adrian," he said.
"I'm sorry, what!" I scowl. "We want you as a bait to lure him in. We will have Adrian in our custody, and you would be free from this charade," he explained as I sighed. "Take your time and decide he," reckoned as that bloody headache was surfacing again. "We will meet soon, Miss Martinez," he stated before walking out as I set there as all the memories crashes down one me. From that night when Adrian coming looking for Aki to that night when those guys were looking for someone. The conflict I am having with myself was something new, like I cannot decide who is right and who is wrong. Should I trust this Noah guy or should I be trusting Adrian.
How has my normal life turned so eventful? Did everything start on the day I met Aki, but it feels like there was a piece of puzzle missing and I cannot place my finger on it. I tried to focus on my memories from the past, trying to find out where have I seen Adrian.
"Adrian Fucking Giovanni," I gritted my teeth as pain erupted in my head, tears brimmed in my eyes, not because of that estúpida handsome man, but because of this painful headache.
"Fuck this, right now I need to sleep," I mumbled as I stand up ready to go home. Definitely a night to remember.
