The hot, heavy breath on the back of my neck was distracting me from the terror which was surrounding me and the presence of the acosodora standing behind me wasnt actually helping.
"What the fuck is going on?" I said with gritted teeth. "Who are these people, why are you even here?"
"Keep quiet gattina. I promise I'll explain everything, just keep quiet for now," he says. His grip tightens on me as he guides both of us towards the door of the café.
"Gattina, please open the door," he instructs when we reach the door. I look at him bewildered, "what the hell is going on?"
"What am I, your servant?" I ask agitated. "I don't care who these people are, let me go I can deal such idiots."
"Aria, you need to shut up and listen to me if you want to stay alive," Adrian says, anger lacing his voice. I roll my eyes before, turning the key in the lock.
As soon as the door opens, he pushes me inside before following me inside. The door shuts with a bang behind him.
"What the hell, Adrian. What was that?" I shout. "Why are there so many people out there and what do they want?" I question.
"Gattina, you need to listen to me. They're from the marines and are most probably out here looking for someone," he says calmly.
"Don't tell me to calm down, you acosodora. All of this is because of you and if those people are from the marines why were you hiding?" I ask suspiciously. "Are you a terrorist, are you on the run from them?"
"No Aria, I'm not a terrorist," he says as if explaining it to a child.
"You expect me to believe you?" I mock. I raise my eyebrows at him as I wait for his response.
Adrian hesitates for a bit before saying, "That's all on you, it's not my job to convince you. He peeks out of the window before settling down in the chair closest to it and then gestures for me to join him.
"You're such a pain, I don't even know you and here I am stuck in this mess because of you," I fire back. Giving up, I shake my head as I sit down opposite him. This isnt how I had planned the night to go. I look up to see Adrian already looking at me with a calculating gaze.
"Why is this happening Adrian?" I ask anxiously. "I don't even know these people, why do I have to go through this?"
"They aren't here after you Aria and before you ask let me tell you that you don't have to concern yourself with why they came here," he explains, his voice was heavy and harsh.
"Can I ask you something?" I look at him expectantly. He glances at me before nodding his head.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're the worlds biggest asshole," I ask anything but nicely.
Adrian smiles before answering, "Many times, but I dont believe in lies so I disregard such statements."
"Ughhh! You're so full of yourself, I can't deal with this anymore," I retort. "I think you should leave, as it is youve already spoiled my plans."
"Relax, Gattina. This is the just the beginning, there's a lot of things which are yet to happen," he answers. I give him a sickly-sweet smile before flipping him off.
"Get out jerk," I snap. I watch as he gives me a mock salute before walking out the door without a backwards glance.
I haven't known this man for a week but he is honestly the most confusing person I have ever met. One moment he can be so sweet but then the next moment he turns into a walking thunderstorm and the surprising part is that I still feel drawn towards him. Not in the romantic sense of course, he just intrigues me; like how can a person switch between moods so quickly.
With these thoughts on my mind, I close the cafés door for the second time this evening. I run a quick glance along the street to pick out any suspicious movement, sensing none I hop into the car to go meet my crazy and now anxious friends.
"What the hell took you so long, Aria?" Zac bursts out as soon as he sees me. I give him a tight squeeze and blow kisses to Gianna before sitting down.
"I have actual work to do you know," I answer in a teasing tone as I pick a chip from the bowl that he has in front of Gianna.
"I'm serious Aria, we were supposed to meet at 5.30pm and it is 6pm now. I was just about to go over to the café to see if everything was ok," he responds.
"I was just 30 minutes late Zac, its not a big deal," I declare rolling my eyes at Gianna who laughs at Zacs drama.
"It is a big deal Ria, youre always at home by 5pm and plus its scary to walk into your apartment without you here," he cries out. Realization floods my mind and I let out a very loud and unattractive snort.
"You're such a baby, Zac. You were afraid of being alone in the apartment, that's what all this drama was for," I say while laughing. Gianna gives Zac her famous judging look while he just ignores both of us.
"I wasn't scared Aria. Its just that I'm not getting positive vibes right now and I'm constantly worried about the two of you," he explains calmly. The look on his face breaks me out of the humorous mood and actually makes me sentimental.
"Aaawww Zac, that is so sweet of you; dont worry, I'm perfectly alright and so is Gianna as you can obviously see," gesturing towards the huge bowl of chips on her lap.
"Samuels, it's actually very annoyingly cute to see you worried about me," Gianna jokes. I smile, already sensing the friendly argument brewing.
"Shut the fuck up, Gianna," Zac says poking out his tongue at her. It is futile to think that Giana won't respond to this comment.
"Don't tempt me to punch you in the face, Zac," she says narrowing her eyes at him.
Zac lets out a light laugh before snuggling close to us on the sofa. "So, what are we watching tonight?" he asks.
"Can we watch Conjuring?" Gianna asks.
"Definitely not, we're going to watch something nice and romantic," Zac replies and the banter between the two continues.
This is perfect and I definitely won't let the thoughts of a certain egoistic, confusing and highly infuriating blue-eyed man ruin it; especially not tonight.
