Eddie's POV
Christopher and I stayed with Kinsley for months. Kinsley even bought two cars so we didn't have to keep the rental. I woke up and Kinsley was cooking breakfast. "Hey," I sighed.
"Hey," Kinsley smiled. "I made breakfast for you and Christopher. I have to head to work soon."
"I've been meaning to ask a question," I replied.
"That never sounds good," Kinsley stated. "What's up?"
"Are we going to talk about the elephant in the room?"
"Which would be?"
"Why we haven't started a relationship since we've been here."
"Eddie, we never even started talking," Kinsley sighed. "You and I are merely just friends at this point and that's how you introduced yourself as to Steve when you guys first met." I looked at her. "Maybe if you hadn't introduced yourself that way, we might have started our relationship a month or so ago."
"Okay," I nodded.
"I'm sorry, Eddie," Kinsley replied. "I have to go."
"I'll see you tonight," I nodded. Kinsley left. Christopher walked in. "I guess it's just you and me again today, bud."
"Why does Kinsley always have to go to work?" Christopher asked.
"It's her job, buddy," I replied. "Remember when I had to go to work every day?"
"Yeah, but you also had your days off," Christopher sighed.
"The thing about Kinsley job is that she can't have a day off because the bad guys won't let her have her days off," I looked at him. "I mean, at least she did spend time with us the one day when she took us to the mall."
"Where we met her teammates," Christopher pointed.
"I see where you're going with this," I sighed. "Why don't you eat your breakfast? We're going to see what we're going to do today."
"Dad?"
"Yeah, buddy?"
"Can we go to an arcade?"
"Yeah," I nodded. "Of course we can." There was a knock on the door. I opened it. "Hey, Danny. If you're looking for Kinsley, she just left a couple minutes ago."
"That's actually why I'm here," Danny sighed. "Steve and Kinsley has been kidnapped."
"You're joking," I nudged Danny. He just looked at me. "You're not kidding."
"No, I'm not," Danny nodded.
"Have you tried tracking their cells?" I asked. "Or track the car?"
"We tried but nothing's working," Danny sighed. "Kinsley gave us specific orders."
"What orders?" I asked.
"If anything were to happen to her, one of us would have to come and pick you up and take you back to The Palace," Danny replied.
"Okay, for how long?" I asked.
"Just until we close the case," Danny sighed. I agreed. I packed a duffel for Christopher and I. Danny drove us to The Palace and he put us in Kinsley's office. "You can stay in here till we close the case?"
"How'd she get an office so quick?" I asked.
"Your girlfriend is good at her job," Danny nodded.
"She's not my girlfriend," I replied. "We never got around to it and we don't sleep in the same bed."
"Oh, I'm just assumed you guys were together," Danny stated. I nodded. "Okay, well, my teammates and I will check up on you from time to time."
"Okay, thank you," I nodded. Danny closed the door. "Okay, Chris. There's been a change of plans, buddy."
"What do you mean?" Christopher asked. "Dad, you said we'd be able to go to the arcade today."
"I know, but Kinsley's in trouble and we have to bring her home safe first before we can do anything, okay, buddy?" I assured him. "I promise we'd go to the arcade as soon as we get done here. Stay here and I'll go order us some food we'll need for lunch." I walked out to where Danny and the rest of the team was. "Do you think you can order us something for lunch?"
"We can pick you up something from Kamekona's shrimp truck," Danny replied. "This is Captain Lou Grover, Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly and Officer Kono Kalakaua."
"Wait, you guys are only a team of six?" I asked. "How do you guys even get your jobs done?"
"Well, we are very good at our job," Grover replied. "Also, McGarrett and Kinsley are very damn good at their job. What did Kinsley do back in LA?"
"Nothing," I nodded. "Her dad is the captain of the unit I used to work at." Grover looked at me. "Firehouse one eighteen."
"Oh, so you're dating the boss's daughter," Grover smiled.
"For the last time, we're not a couple," I sighed. "She's the daughter of a fire captain. She's got a Juris Doctor Degree in law and a Master of Science in criminal justice." I started thinking. "Look, I want to help assist on this case."
"Yeah, no," Kono nodded. "We're not going to let a civilian help on the case."
"I can help you," I replied. "I was a combat medic in the army, and I was first responder fireman for the one eighteen in LA."
"Danny, you're the one in command at the moment," Chin stated. "What do you say?"
"As long as you stay out of the way," Danny pointed. "Okay, let's get started. We tracked their cells and that didn't work. Nothing on their cars, right?"
"HPD just found Steve's truck abandoned Ala Moana Boulevard," Kono looked at her phone. "Signs of a struggle and a gunshot wound."
"Steve wouldn't let anyone jack his car," Danny nodded. "We're missing something."
"Danny, you should know the gunshot was on the passenger's side," Kono stated. "DNA matches Kinsley."
"Kinsley's hurt," I crossed my arms.
"Does Kinsley have any other way we can track her?" Danny asked. "Like a bracelet or a necklace that has GPS?"
"No, we never believed in that stuff," I nodded. "She always took care of herself and knows exactly what to do if anything were to happen."
"Steve would do anything to keep Kinsley safe since she was hurt," Kono replied.
"She was shot and we don't know how bad the GSW is," I sighed. "We need to find her soon or she's going to bleed out. I don't know how I'm going to explain that to her dad when I have to take her home." I looked at Danny. "I'd prefer to take her back alive, Danny. I don't need to take her home in a body bag."
