The students quickly stood up as the bell rang, indicating the end of our class.

"See you tomorrow, class," Ms. Howson said, erasing the lecture on the board.

I finally stood up as well, picking up my bag. I checked my phone as I walked towards the exit, expecting a message from my mom.

"Must have forgotten again," I said in a low voice. Of course she must have forgotten, I thought. She'd been burying herself with work since it happened.

"Going home already?" Jade said, catching up with me. Her dozen of keychains banging at each other, making annoying sounds.

No, really, it's annoying.

"Umm, yeah, I gotta do something, mom's working overtime," I answered, as we made our way to our lockers. Everyone's busy putting back their things, chatting happily with their friends as they head out. "You really got to take down some of your keychains."

"They're souvenirs!" She protested, giggling, as she opened her locker door.

"Why the keychains?" I asked with my remind-me tone.

"'Cause postcards are boring," she shrugged. One thing you need to know about Jade is that she is very adventurous. Her parents are really supportive of her and would take her to trips every holiday. "Picking up baby bro?"

"Have to," I said, closing my locker. "I'll see y--- hey!"

As I was about to turn, I slammed into someone. His books flew on the other side of the hall. He looked at me, expressionless. Behind the glasses he wore, I can see his eyes were the shade of brown.

"I'm sorry," he started. His voice was soft. "I didn't saw you."

"Watch where you're going, loser!" Marcus said, eyeing him as he passed.

"Such a weirdo," someone said.

"No, no, it's okay," I said, smiling. "I turned around, didn't know you were behind me. I'm sorry."

"Yeah, that," he chuckled, nervously.

"Umm, let me help you," I said, walking to where his books are, picking them up.

"That," seems like he forgotten about his books. "Thanks."

After taking some of the books I picked up from me, he smiled one last time before he walked away.

"Umm, I'll see you around," I called. He simply waved his hand as he continued walking towards the school exit.

"That's the first time I heard him talk," Jade said, amazed, standing beside me as she stared at him.

"Who's he?" I asked.

"Calum," she replied. "Just transfered here two weeks ago. Always in the corner, never socializing. He's probably a nerd or something."

"Well," I started to move the moment he was out of sight, followed by Jade. "He seems nice."

"I guess so."

I checked on my phone again. It's already 4:20 in the afternoon.

"Hello, ladies," Alex said, walking beside me.

"Sup, Alex?" I grinned. "I got to go now! See you guys tomorrow!"
