Chapter 11

Dmitri didn't pick me up for school on this not so fine Monday .

He called me to apologize about not being able to because of his princely duties as Alpha Prince . He had to go back to the Wolf territories today for that . He also said that he won't be able to contact me again until next month when he'll be back for the concert.

That worried me . I wanted to be able to keep in touch . I wanted to know if something bad happened .

I told him that it was fine ....but it wasn't . Not to me at least . I am afraid that I won't ever see him again because of how things had turned out since our first meeting.

So much for missing me too . Maybe that was a lie .

I drove to school , picking up Terry on the way .

Terry had a great time at her grandfather's . She couldn't stop talking about it. She also said that she met a Humanised who knew what he is ,but didn't want to go and live in the Wolf territories .

" His name is Isaac Marx ," Terry said as we neared the school ," He lives with his two wolf parents and he has a brother . He said that his parents used to be rogues and had fled over the border before he was born . He's eighteen . That means his parents know about the past of the territories ,right ?. I asked him about redheads and he got very weird about it . Do you think rogues have the same prejudiced views on redheads ?."

I shrugged . How would I know when I'm a Humanised also.

It felt strange to call myself that . A Humanised . If someone had told me two weeks ago that I'd be calling myself something like that I'd have definitely thought that they're bonkers .

" By the looks of how he reacted ,they do ", Terry answered her own question . " Anyway, did you finish the essay ?. The Draken Clan was Mages right?. And those Bluebloods are Vampires . I wonder why Mr. Royce gave us that particular history to write about ."

It was true . The Draken Clan was Mages , but they were also Vampires. Well, some of them were . The Blueblood Clan still rules the Vampire territories and the Draken Clan had retreated to the Mage territories after the Blood Feuds . Of course Mr. Royce would find a way to slip in the Vampires in our lessons . At least he didn't say anything about the Wolf and the Vampire wars in 991.

" Do we really have to talk about history now ?", I asked as we finally reached the school, parking on my favourite spot near a tree stump that had been a tree when I was a freshman .

Terry only shot me a wide smile at that . She hated history just like the next student , but history could be fascinating sometimes and besides it is mandatory like Neomerican Common . Otherwise I'd have skipped that class , waving at it from a distance.

To make things worse , it was our first class of the day . Mondays always have history class first .

" Ugh, here comes The Stupid Squad ," Terry suddenly said and I almost groaned , but I suppressed it .

Sure enough , Sonica , Ricardo and Allen were making their way to us and I realized that by the looks on their faces , Saint Holly's Day had come early for them .

Saint Holly's are our most important day of the year . We exchange gifts and we stuff ourselves with all sorts of good food and revere the Light's first bloom on that day .

" Al!, Terry!", Sonica called out as they neared us ," How was your weekend ?."

" Oh great . Grandad and I had such a fun time ," Terry said . I could tell she was only being polite.

" And you ,Al?. Ricky and I went to that wedding to see you , but you weren't there and neither was Dmitri ."
Sonica smiled smugly as she said it as if she'd caught me at telling a fib or something .
