The book I snuck out of the vault has gone everywhere with me for the past week. I have poured over every bit of the first 50 pages, hoping for some earlier mention of dizziness or fainting spells, but to no avail. Whatever it is that caused him to start having them, it started with the bite he got. Part of me is dying to know what it is and why it happened, but a small part of me, deep down, says no. It says that I won't like whatever this book has to say. But I need to know.

I'm holed up in my room, seated comfortably on my bed. I have snacks and drinks surrounding me for a good day of work in this journal. As soon as I settle down to start reading past the pages I've scoured, there's a knock on my door. I quickly throw my Biology textbook over it, open to a random page. "Come in."

Sophia closes the door after she comes inside. "Hi sweetie. Feeling better?"

I nod. "You know I always feel great after the full moon passes. It's no big deal."

She smiles then looks at my bed. "I'm sorry, were you in the middle of studying?"

I glance down at my book. "Its okay, the study of mitosis can wait. What's up?" I gesture to the edge of my bed and she sits.

"Well, Heather gave me a call this morning. She said you've seemed pretty out of it for the past week since you fainted. She also said something about a couple of boys you've taken under your wing?"

I smirk. "Jason and Tyler Freeman. They're new here and really nice. Not to mention cute. I don't see what Heather's problem is."

Sophia gives me a look. "She's your best friend Mirella.."

I shake my head. "Not really. I don't know how many people I have to explain this to. I just don't have the heart to push her away. She seems to really like hanging out with me, and her conversations aren't too boring so I just put up with her. Why? Is she worried that Tyler and Jason are encroaching on her territory?"

My aunt's eyes widen. "She said she was your second...never mind. If you're not really friends with her then why not tell her that? She seems to think she's your best friend in the whole wide world. And yes, I think she does think that these new boys are going to take you away from her."

I laugh. "It'd almost be a blessing. I don't really like being around Heather that much. But her mother is like, desperate to get us to be BFFs or something. It's ridiculous. Besides, I so much prefer hanging out with Tristan and Emilie on my Friday nights than with her."

"The van Gould children? Oh honey, I hope you don't like that Tristan boy. He's nothing but bad news."

I roll my eyes. "It doesn't matter. I'm not into him. We're just friends. But he and Emilie at least offer interesting conversation. Heather's just boring."

"Well enough about friend drama. She said you've been holed up with a book or something like that for the past week, and that you'd had some sort of weird daydream the after you woke up. Your dad texted me something about it too." She says, leaning back.

I shrug. "It was just a daydream. Vivid, but that's all."

"Was there anything particularly odd about it?"

I sigh. Well I guess I might as well tell her. It's not she can do anything to me for a stupid daydream. "I was standing in the woods, and there was this light brown wolf cowering in front of me, like it'd done something really bad. I could tell it was female just from looking at it."

"Is that all?"

I think back. "Yeah, that's all. It was just really weird. I looked up at Heather and bam! It was like the two were connected. But that's impossible. I mean, wolves haven't been around Moonlight Falls for centuries."
