Meadow Riding Club Adventures

Chapter 4

"So what do you want for your birthday?!" Olivia said, overwhelmed with excitement to shop for her best friend.
"Is that even a question?" Molly giggled.
"Anything horsey you know that!" Molly spoke, they both bursted out laughing.
"What about you?"

"Me?" Olivia squeaked.

"Yeah your birthday is coming up too!"

"Not for a few weeks!"
They both giggled.

"So...has Carson asked you out yet?!" Olivia said.

"What?!" Molly squeaked.

"Oh come on, don't be blind Mols! He totally likes you."

Molly's cheeks flushed red.
"We're just friends."

"Whatever you say!"

So the girls continued to ride, it was now dark out. But for some reason, they hadn't turned back to go home yet.

Meanwhile at the stables...

Daniel walked through the stalls. "Olivia? Molly?" Daniel called out through the stables. Crickets..
All of a sudden their instructor had a bad feeling, he ran down to the horses stalls.
On the front of the stalls they had gold plates on them, with horses names...
One said "Candy"
And the other said "Jolly"
"Oh no.." he mumbled.
He quickly took his horse and tacked it up with Black English tack.
A white horse with a pink nose and pink around it's eye. His name was "Dime"
Daniel finished up doing the girth and lead the 15.3 hand gelding out of the stall. As Dan mounted his horse he looked at the ground...
"Hoof prints." He said, he started to follow the tracks.

Meanwhile back on the trails...

*Howl nosies*
Olivia gasped. "Did you hear that?!"

"Uh-huh.." Molly hands slowly started to shake.
The howling came closer and closer until they saw yellow eyes in the woods..
"Olivia ride Jolly and get out of here!" Molly said, trying to hold Candy steady.

"No! I'm not leaving you!!" Olivia said, her blood pumping.

"Then how do we get out of here-" Molly was caught off. The big, grey wolf with yellow eyes started to growl... lurching towards them.
"Steady girl..." Molly murmured, but it was no use. Candy was scared to death! But to be fair, so was Molly.
"Molly look out!!" Olivia yelled.

Molly turned her head and saw a wolf jumping at them. She acted quickly and tried to pull on Candy's right rein. But before Molly knew it, Candy reared up, throwing her legs into the air.
"Ah!" Molly screeched as she lost her balance, and her stirrups. And in slow motion, Molly saw the ground coming closer, she tried to brace herself for the fall but it was to late.
Thud.
Molly hit the ground hard, and she was out.
"Molly wake up!!! Hurry!!"
Olivia yelled but it was no use, candy was distracting the wolves without getting attacked. Olivia flung off Jolly and ran to Molly's said.
"Molly? C'mon we gotta get out of her!"
Molly's eyes opened sightly, letting out a wince in pain.
"Your going to have to ride candy back okay?" Olivia said, managing to get Molly up. Holding her up.
"Just hang on really tight."
And by the time candy knew it was time to go, Olivia got Molly into the saddle. And then flung herself onto Jolly...grabbing Molly's reins ready to take off, Olivia now realized...they were surrounded.

"Molly! Olivia!" Shouts came from the distance. Along with hoof beats.

"Dan?? Dan!!" Olivia cried out. "Help!! Over here."

Molly on the other hand, was slumped over in her saddle, clanging to Candy's neck, shaking. She was still in pain and out of it. But she knew what had happened..and she knew she was scared.

Daniel let out a high pitched whistle. Which scared the wolves off. Expect for one, it was eyeing Molly and Candy...two targets who were at a attackable stage.
Molly lifted her body and saw the wolf ready to attack.
All of a sudden a white horse clouded Molly's sight. Daniel had pushed his horse in front of Olivia and Molly. Scaring off the last Wolf, nearly getting attacked. Once they were in the clear Daniel still knew they had to get out of there, but the wolves were long gone now...once the wolves were gone Molly let her body go limp and slump over Candy's neck again.
"Molly? Are you okay?"

Molly heard her riding instructor talking, but for some reason she was really really tired.

"Candy reared up really high..she hit the ground hard Dan, she also blacked out." Olivia added quickly.

"Can you lead Candy home?"

"Yeah." Olivia said, Olivia wasn't as shaken as Molly...Olivia was more of the, calm and cool and 'hey that was fun!' kinda type.

Dan reached over from his horse and grabbed the limp rider. "We're going home don't worry." He said softly, and made it so she was riding in front of him, on Dime. So he could hold her in the saddle. She was shaking and her face was as white as a sheet. Finally she came to her senses..
"Huh? Candy...where's candy." Molly started to mumble.
"Shh it's okay."
She heard her calm instructors voice.
"We're almost home."

As they got to the barn Dan quickly got off Dime.
"Olivia, go and untack Candy and Jolly. Hurry."

"But-" Olivia hesitated. "W-will Molly be okay?"

"Yes! Now go, hurry!" Dan said, firmly.

He lead Dime into the barn and gently grabbed Molly off his back. Sitting her down in the lounge, on the sofa.
"Molly? Can you hear me?"

"Yes.." Molly said quietly, shaking..

"Are you hurt?"

"No, I think I just got the wind knocked out of me.." Molly said, still trying to get breath into her lungs.
She looked at her riding instructors face, and it was then that she saw it...he worried deeply about her, more then she even could imagine, was he really like a father figure to her? Everything seemed to make sense now...

"Are you sure Molly?" He asked, trying to see if there was any injuries.

"I'm sure.." She said, as she managed to get her weak body to sit up even more.

"Dan- there were so many...and they were heading for the paddocks." Molly said, her voice trembling.

"That's what wolves do, when no one's around they plan their attack.. we'll put all the horses in tonight just to be safe though." Dan said.

Molly nodded. "Please let me help, I'll be fine.."

"In the state your in? I don't think that's a good idea."

"Dan, what if I get the bombproof ones... yeah?"

"Well I guess-"

"Good, let's go." Molly didn't let Dan finish, she was up and going over to Olivia. As Molly walked black flashes crossed over her eyes, she shook her head snapping out of the urge to pass out.

"Molly! Thank goodness, are you okay?!" Olivia said

"Yeah...are you? How's candy? And Jolly?" Molly asked quickly.

"I'm fine, Candy is in shock, Jolly's eating his food like nothing ever happened."

"Good, c'mon we gotta help Dan get the rest of the horses in." Molly said, when Olivia had went Infront of her Molly snuck a treat to Candy. "I'm sorry about that girl, I'll be back."

As Dan, Olivia, and Molly were leading the horses back, they all heard hollows in the distance. Molly felt a shiver run up her back, she put a tight grip on the lead rope, making her hands turn white. Dan looked over at Molly, who was now trembling and she didn't even know it.
Dan slowed down, letting Olivia lead the way. He came up beside Molly and took his free hand and put it on her shoulder gently. Molly jumped but quickly calmed down when she saw who it was.
"Your trembling."

"I- I am?" Molly said, looking down at her body shaking...she tried to stop.

"Your safe Molly, you don't have to worry okay? I'm Right here, by your side." Dan spoke softly, keeping his hand on her shoulder... Molly's body started to stop trembling. Dan was right, she was safe now, and so were the horses...what's to come is quite more than they expected, but as long as Olivia is by Molly's side...they are ready.
