It was 10:47 AM.

He was sitting on the edge of her bed.. staring at her. Mei's fingers traced the lace white pattern on the bed sheets as she sat on the other side. Every few seconds, the shy girl's pupils would remove themselves from the position on the ceiling to see if he was still staring. He was.

It was 10:50 before a word was spoken.

"You're beautiful. Like the sun... or the whole galaxy. Your eyes are the stars and your cheeks are brighter than any nebula, " he paused. "I wish I was the moon, so I could date you the way the moon dates the Earth, orbiting around it's beauty at all times, there for its every need."

Mei might've caught 30 flies if she were outside. It took nearly a minute for her to close her mouth.

"What?" She had to have him clarify.

"You.."

"Stop. I heard you." She stopped him. He raised his hand and scratched the back of his neck. He wouldn't look at her. Sammy was lying.

"I don't know if you're doing this to repay me.. or as some cruel joke that you're recording for your popular friends to see. But, if this is some kind of joke, it isn't funny." her face turned a deep shade of crimson red. A nebula would now pale in comparison to the color. Its burn, a thousand times hotter as well.

"I'm not kidding. Something brought me here and told me to say this. I don't know what it is.. but I agree with it, " Sam's words played
through my head as if it were a lyric video to a song we've all heard before. "I couldn't care less about our social ranking in school-"

"Then why don't you ever acknowledge anyone's existence outside of it.. unless they save your life of course."

"I'm not in love with you because of a fucking push out of the road. Do you think I just figured out where your house was? Did you even wonder why I really came after you that dark evening? I can't ruin my reputation, but I do acknowledge everyone's existence.. and I recognize what I like out of what I acknowledge. Maybe my mind can be wrong."

"Did you think you were going to prance in here and just because I don't have friends and I seem desperate, I'll date you? I'll fall in love with you after you swear your love to me by an inconstant moon and changes phases every month? Guess again, Sam. I'll play harder to get than any other sleazy girl at Lerman High."

Sam fell silent. Their faces now battled at cherry redness.

"There's only room for one heart in my body. But, " Mei quieted, "if you really want that figurative spot, then I will send you my love. Tell me tomorrow, and I'll be over to your house by 9."

"In the morning?"

"Yes."

He exited the white room of the small cottage, and out the front door, where a familiar father was coming inside.

"Who's this?" He asked his daughter. Sam waved and gave a charming smile, only she could see his shark teeth.

Sammy was down the street before Mei called him back. "Sammy?" She dashed towards him.

Before he could say anything, Mei wrapped her frail arms around his shoulders, and held on. He didn't say anything, just placed his large left hand in the small of her back.

"I think I forgot why I called you back. I was just going for a walk." She turned in the opposite direction, and they were both on their way.
