Hey fellow, GA fans..... So I am back.
I am loving writing these chapters a lot , so I am writing them while I have time to do so. Because I have exams in a few days..So this is another chapter where there takes place an intervention for Derek. (I just love imagining myself to be able to enter Derek's life whenever I want).
This takes place after 4×11. The episode in which Derek breaks up with Meredith for real this time.
3rd person POV
Entering his trailer, when he sheds his dirty clothes of the day and takes a shower, the gravity of the day's events finally dawn's upon him. Meredith's reaction to the house plans, their big fight , and finally telling Meredith that he couldn't do it anymore.
Although they had broken up a while ago, today's words felt more concrete. Like a final decision. He felt completely hopeless.
Deep down he knew this was inevitable yet he kept the facade alive as long as he could. He had this problem. He couldn't easily admit defeat, be it in a relationship or a tumor. Once ha had set his mind on something he had always get it. But this time he had to let go. And it had been painful. So painful he felt his heart was going to bleed out (although he knew that was not scientifically possible.)
He remembered this habit of him had once been so good for him. The first day in Seattle he had met the most alluring woman he had ever seen and he had hooked up with her. But one night was not enough for him. And he had pestered her for months to get her to go out with him.
He remembered that time like the back of his hand. Those were the simple times, when Meredith was just a girl he liked very much. And He was just a guy who liked her very much.
Sadly their past had caught up to them. Leaving them and their relationship this battered that it now looked beyond repair.
In a daze he clothed himself, he went out and sat down on his bed. The bed, the trailer, everything reminded him of her.
That's when he heard a familiar voice. This time this voice was gentle. "Hey Dr. Shepherd."
It was the beautiful girl who had visited him a few days ago. The girl who had planted the idea of walking away. "For his own good". Whatever that was supposed to mean.
He groaned and said "You are here, Again" emphasising the ' again '. "What do you want now?" He asked harshly burying his face in his hands.
He was so not ready for a conversation with this woman who forced him to confront the reality of his relationship. He wanted to pretend, that had he waited long enough Meredith might have gotten ready for a real relationship.
"Derek" the girl said as gently as possible. She was trying to helpful during his painful experience.
"You gave me all the reasons to do it. You planted this idea in my mind. This was supposed to help me. This doesn't seem helpful." He said sobbing.
She continued to comb her fingers through his hair as if to soothe his pain a little bit.
"I mean I did make a mistake. Kissing Rose was a mistake. I should have just apologised . Maybe she could have forgiven me. We could have continued to be together as if nothing had happened." He said more to himself then to her.
"Then why didn't you?" She asked softly.
"Because.." he started but paused. Because deep down he knew that this was his idea. He had not planned for it to go this way but he knew that the fooling around they both had been doing even after their break up had to come to an end. And he felt like he was not deserving of Meredith's love anymore. He had chosen different women over her again and again, so maybe him walking away was the right thing.
As if reading his mind the girl beside him said "come on . You know this was the right thing to do. It was the only thing to do."
"But it hurts so much" he sobbed. "I just wish she would trust me. Let me take care of her. I love her so much."
"I know" she said.
"I even went on a date with that nurse. But it didn't feel right. Nothing feels right without her." he continued his rant.
"I know" she said again.
And that's how he ended up crying on her shoulder while she hugged him tightly.
The girl felt started crying too.
When Derek noticed this he finally asked "How do you do this? Why are you even doing this? Don't you have better things to do?"
"What ?" She asked wiping her own tears.
"This. You know all about my day, without me having to tell you. And you are hearing my problems out, consoling me while I am down, and much more, what now seems like on a regular basis."
"Well, as for how, I can't tell you that because that's a top secret. Although, I love watching your life. It's like a live daytime soap opera for me. And as for consoling you, I do it because as I have told you before. I know you. Much more than you think and I must tell you, You are a really good man. Although you act a bit narcissistic at times but you are a good man, nonetheless. And I want the best for you."
"Did you just call me narcissistic?" He asked lifting his head from her shoulder.
"I said sometimes" she said and shrugged.
And then Derek shepherd laughed. A full blown laugh. This laugh was not an amused laugh. In a way he was laughing at his fate. This was the obe thing every woman in his life kept pointing out about him. Ironically many had told him this was the same thing that attracted them to him.
"I guess I should work on that" he said as his laughter subsided.
Then he sincerely looked at the girl and said "thank you for existing. Although I don't know how you know all about me but you being here in my emotional crisis really helps. So thank you.
And you are a pretty great person yourself, aside from the creepy know it all personality.""You know...." The girl said hesitantly "I once had a crush on you. I still have a little bit."
As soon as she said it, something very out of character happened for Derek Shepherd. He softly kissed the mystery girl. She even responded to it well. It was a slow, soft kiss which could have been really great had there been feelings involved.
After a minute or so the girl pulled out of the kiss, albeit a little reluctantly.
"Ok, what was that?" She asked a little breathless.
Derek looked down and said "I mean you did say , you like me and nowadays you are the only one I can really talk to. So I thought why not try here."
The girl shook her head. "Derek I know that was a great kiss but even you know we don't have any chemistry. You are just emotional right now. You don't feel anything for me..."
Derek went to say something along the lines of him considering her a friend when she said "Romantically"
That shut him up. "Sleep on it and you will know I did the right thing." She said.
"Whatever" he scoffed. And lied down on his bed. "See you after my next emotional crisis" and fell asleep knowing full well that there will be no evidence of this interaction the next day.
