The Todoroki family on the outside seemed to look like a pretty normal functional family from the perspective of outsiders. However it was far from that.
Y/n stared at Rei's face, now a bandage on her cheek. She could already guess how it happened, when and why. It was still early, however Enji had already left for work and Y/n had just returned for her morning run.
"You're going to your new school today right?" Rei begun rather nervously.
"Yeah...Hikami High." Y/n answered, her tone nonchalant.
"I see. I hope you'd have a great time there." Rei smiled weakly, "Despite everything... I hope you'll enjoy yourself"
Her words held a double meaning. Out of the ordinary it may look like a mother only hopes that her daughter would still enjoy the rest of the school year, after all Y/n's school did get wreaked during a villain attack.
However, for the situation of Y/n Todoroki... It was Rei's way of saying that she hoped that the girl could still enjoy her life despite it starting unpleasantly.
"Maybe if I was just a bit more..."
"I'll head to my room." Standing up from her seat, Y/n didn't spare the older woman a glance as she made her way to the room.
'It doesn't matter...'
Right. "Maybes" and "ifs" were nothing but hopeful words... No. They were only pitiful wishful thinking.
Y/n Todoroki knew that it was rather cruel of her to walk out on her mother like that. But then again, comforting words and actions were something that was never taught in the Todoroki household.

Waiting inside the car, Y/n sat at the window seat by the driver's side waiting for her siblings and mother to get ready. The driver Enji hired to drive them off to school didn't say a word, both of them simply sitting in silence.
Y/n gazed outsid the tinted window, looking at their traditionally built home. Y/n always wondered, if such house could even be considered a home. As far as she remember the lesson she learnt back in her elementary years a 'home' was a place they'd feel safe, welcomed, comfortable and unharmed.
"Go help mom please." Y/n ordered upon noticing Rei walking out of the house carrying multiple was bags.
"Right away, ma'am" the driver answered before going out the car, rushing towards Rei to help her with the heavy luggage.
Y/n disliked that lesson back then. Because she didn't really like calling their house a 'home'. Not once had that house felt like it. No safety, no comfort, not even sense of welcome. For her, that building was nothing else but a house, something made only for the sake of shelter. It was simply a house occupied by people forced to live within its walls, with a mother forced to marry a man just because he deemed her quirk useful. And children nothing else to be used as tools of their so called 'father'. Tools who are deemed as "failures" and the "perfect creation" depending on the quirk they manifested.
