Trixie walked to her dorm after a long day of physical training. Her legs felt like they were lit on fire each time she took a step. Her whole body felt way too heavy to carry, and all she wanted to do was lay on her bed and drift to sleep. She searched for her keys, taking them out and unlocking her room. She only saw Katya once in the whole day, in the morning. Katya told her she had work to do out in New York and wished her good luck in the Training Grounds. Trixie smiled and waved as they took separate paths, walking to the Training Station. The training was demanding, but talking with Jinkx through it made it somehow more tolerable. Trixie understood how the agents could see Jinkx as a motherly figure to them, and Trixie was starting to see that too. Trixie never really had someone who gave space for her to speak her mind in her childhood, and not in her adult life either. Trixie learned to live in her own world, in peace, accepting that she was meant to be alone. So Jinkx's acting motherly towards her really touched Trixie's heart.
"Do you actually think Katya and me will work?" Trixie said while aiming at some aliens made out of cardboard with her gun.
"Sure, why is that question?"
"I think that I'm too unprofessional, I feel like I'm supposed to be her friend." Trixie flipped her head quickly when a fake alien popped out of nowhere. "She doesn't feel like that, she puts a wall between us."
"Maybe she needs time." Jinkx talked paced and calmly. "Some people think they are better off alone, they even try to resist the temptation of letting someone in. But that mindset quickly betrays them, and they finally let people in." Jinkx explained. Trixie saw herself heavily reflected in Jinkx's words. Now that people seemed to approach her, or spend time with her, she was being more open.
"I can see her opening a bit sometimes, but then I remember she's there just because of work. She just has to guide me until I get to be independent." Trixie figured out.
"Who told you that?" Jinkx seemed genuinely surprised at Trixie's words.
"I figured."
"Actually, Katya specially asked to be able to be the one to take you here. Normally agents just find potential workers, and then guides look out for them." Jinkx explained. "Katya did want to spend some time with you, Trixie."
"What?" Trixie got distracted and got attacked by a fake alien. "Fuck!" She tripped and fell on her butt.
Trixie smiled at the memory, Katya did want to spend some time with her after all. Trixie left her stuff on the desk she bought with Katya the day before. She took off the boots she was wearing and laid on her bed, she exhaled, relaxing her whole body. They had some good ass beds, Trixie sat up, laying back with her arms holding her back. She stood up, wondering if Katya was in her room, it was almost 8 p.m. She knocked on the door, it was already opened, so she accidentally opened it. The furniture was black with red details, the bed was unmade, the red and black sheets crumbled together. She saw a collection of knives hung on the wall and a mannequin head with makeup on it on the desk. Was she living with a psychopath? She kept looking around, creeping from the door frame.
She saw photos, a few of them. In one she was posing with Jinkx, with a black and white suit and a paper similar to a diploma in her hand a younger Katya smiled widely. The one next to it was a fun one, Katya with Violet and Bob, Violet and Bob held glasses of champagne while Katya held a diet coke. They were smiling, it looked like a celebration. The one below that one had a blonde girl, who Trixie didn't seem to know or had never seen. She was sitting on Katya's bed, smiling at the camera, next to her sat Katya. Katya was holding a nail polish, trying to paint the girl's toes. The one next to her featured the girl too, as well as Monet and Violet. Katya was holding the blonde girl up as if they were just married. Monet did the same with Violet, all of them laughing. Trixie smiled at the pictures. The last picture was a selfie of Katya and the blonde girl, Katya was laying her head on the girl's shoulder. Their smiles were so beautiful together.
