Katya was smoking in the smoking area in the dorm rooms, Trixie sitting next to her. She checked her clock, 06:23 p.m. She closed her eyes while hearing Trixie ramble about her training day. Eventually, Katya got used to Trixie's voice filling the usual silence of her smoke breaks. She closed her eyes taking in the younger girl's voice.
"Everyone stares at me when I come out of the Training Station still in the training suit. Is it wrong? Like not formal or vulgar to do so?" Trixie asked, scared of the idea of disappointing someone.
"No, I used to do the same thing. It's normal."Katya explained.
"So then why do they keep staring?" Trixie asked, completely naive.
"Are you not aware of how you look?" Katya said without thinking, quickly taking a long drag from her cigarette to ease the nervousness.
"What?" A light pink blush coated Trixie's cheeks.
"Um, like, you know. You look good, people like to look at good-looking people." Trixie smiled while watching Katya struggling to explain something Trixie already understood, but it was too cute to watch to stop it.
"Do you think I'm good-looking?" Trixie turned to Katya, knowing the boldness of the question.
"Trixie..." Katya stood up and put off the cigarette on the ashtray. "I think you should get ready for dinner."
"Oh... okay." Trixie looked down, embarrassed. She stood up, leaving Katya standing next to the ashtray.
Katya breathed deeply, a bit shaken from Trixie's question. Normally if this had happened a week ago she would've said a borderline cruel joke and left after putting off her cigarette. But Katya couldn't bring herself to an answer, or at least to say the answer. Of course, she thought Trixie was good-looking, she thought so from the night she met her. She had fantasized a few times about the girl, mentally slapping herself when she caught herself. Katya hated that she was betraying her original plan completely, getting closer to Trixie the more time they spent together.
She couldn't let Trixie see that side of her. Katya saw herself slowly tearing the wall between her and Trixie down, she was scared of Trixie seeing her real self. Katya sighed, getting out of the room, walking to the cafeteria where most of the workers had lunch and dinner at. She tied up her hair in a messy bun, trying to get her body temperature down. Katya got into the cafeteria, as soon as she got near the ordering zone she spotted a redhead wondering what she was gonna eat. She stood next to Jinkx.
"Oh hey," Jinkx said to Katya.
"What have you been talking about with Trixie?" Katya asked.
"Normal stuff, she's been asking me about the building, how it works, how she's gonna work."
"Don't play dumb, I know you like making training a therapeutic experience." Katya lifted her brows. "What do you two actually talk about?"
"If you see it as therapy, then I shouldn't tell you what was talked about for legal reasons," Jinkx said lifting one of her shoulders.
"Have you been telling her to get closer to me?" Katya got to the point.
"Not like that," Jinkx finally chose what to eat, letting Katya choose her dinner. "I only told her that you need time."
"Need time for what? Retire?" Katya frowned.
"Katya, you know what I'm talking about," Jinkx said as Katya chose her dinner.
"I don't wanna be her friend Jinkx, I didn't even want a working partner in the first place,"
"Sometimes is not about wanting or not Katya, some things just happen by nature."
