Chapter Six | Higher Than The Sun

Kris followed Ralsei and Susie nervously. I wish Ralsei wasn't so abrasive...I need to get myself under control as well...Susie's right, we need to get along to achieve our goals...but why is that so hard? They thought, frowning slightly and tugging at the ends of their robe. Kris had to stop themself from pulling out the loose strands. The blue Addison turned to them quickly as the party approached the Jevilshop. He was wearing a garish purple jester's outfit and green face makeup with thick yellow rings. His skin was completely smooth and his nose and chin were hard, triangular edges. He had no hair, unless that giant flat plane on top of his head was somehow the latest trend. Rouxls sunk into his potato bag.

"Hello! Mighty fine morning we're having, huh?" The Addison gestured at the evening sky.

"...yeah..." Susie said. Kris coughed.

"Ehehe...quicke questione...does anyone by the name of Jevile work here?" Rouxls asked, holding up a shaking finger. The Addison raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, it's his name on the store." The Addison pointed at the neon yellow sign reading 'JEVILSHOP: Weapons, Armor and More'. He flashed a salesman smile like Spamton's. Kris felt uncomfortable.

"Do y-you not want to come in with us? B-because that's fine! You can w-wait out here if you like..." Kris offered. Rouxls shook his head and grinned.

"Nonsense my dear employee, Rouxls Kaard never backeth down from a foe or a friende! ... but I do backeth down from former coworkers so yeah I'll stay out here..." Rouxls' smile faded, and he slumped onto the ground by the front doors. The Addison shrugged his shoulders.

"Well, as long as one of you is going in there to buy something..." He said, opening the purple-framed glass doors. The party walked inside, and Kris quietly thanked them as the door closed behind them. The store was lined with glass cases filled with glittering, shining weapons. Blades, knives, axes and spears. The walls were painted with violent slashes of greens and purples, and magically-illuminated stars floated thorough the store. Ralsei and Susie were in awe. Kris was preoccupied with fancy robes. Blue with stars, dashing rainbow stripes, the possibilities were endless! Unfortunately, their finances were not.

"Ah, shit. We have no money." Ralsei commented. He dug through his ratty coat pockets and scrounged up 20 KROMER, but that wasn't even enough for more than a Light Candy. They heard banging on the window. Rouxls had somehow heard Ralsei's lamentation and was now smashing his face into the window. The Addison grabbed him and pulled him into the store. He tossed him onto the ground, and Rouxls laid there on his face.

"I haveth moneye!" Rouxls said, before immediately regretting his entrance. I thought he wasn't coming in here? Kris thought.

"jevil's not here is he oh god oh god." Rouxls muttered, spinning his head around to check for Jevil, and upon not finding him, he scrambled like a little crab man to sit upright, and began to shove his fingers into his throat. He gagged and choked, and everyone looked at each other. Rouxls coughed loudly, and a coin shot out of his throat. It hit the ground with a disgusting splat. It encased in a jellylike blue blob. Kris's eyes widened and they felt sick. Susie's jaw dropped, and she held her hands out front of her with a dumbfounded expression on her face.

"I-wha-you-wh-" She stammered as Rouxls choked up around 14 more. Ralsei had doubled over with laughter, and was rolling around on the floor. Kris felt their disgust turn to mild amusement as it became comical. What even..?  They thought, giggling into the wrist of their robe. Rouxls cleared his throat, wiped the coins off, and held them out for Susie to grab. She looked at them with a disgusted expression. Suddenly, one of the walls of the store appeared as if part of it was spinning. It spun all the way around to show a bored-looking, round clown standing behind a counter with a drab cash register atop it.
