45. Keya

Tyler arrived early in my apartment to pick us up to come with him for their morning practice as what he have promised Sky last night.

Our son was really excited to the point where he woke up two hours in advance than his usual wake up time. The kid was very hyper and I am not going to lie, I was a bit drained just to contain his excitement.

"Daddy can you tie my shoes?" Sky asks his father as he runs towards him carrying his shoes.

"Sure buddy, come here!" Tyler said enthusiastically and carry Sky to sit on the couch. If I have my phone with me right now, I'd totally take a photo of it but I'm really busy in preparing Sky's stuff to bring with him.

"I'll just come pick up Sky later after my meeting." I told Tyler after I finish packing Sky's bag. I have an urgent faculty meeting at the university right now with my co-faculties I have to attend to. "Is your mom really sure that she can handle Sky all on her own?"

"Don't worry, she's good with kids." Tyler said. "Plus the practice will only last for an hour."

I nodded and handed him the bag that contains all the things that Sky needs for the rest of the day. "Right, you're all set!"

"Come on, I'll give you a ride down to the university." Tyler offered.

"Oh no, it's fine. I can just go ride a cab." I declined. "Besides, we're going on a separate way. You'll be late."

"It's fine, this is not our usual morning practice anyway since it's our organization's family day." He replied. "Or you know what you can drive my car. Just drop me and Sky at the arena so that you won't have a hard time in coming to pick us up later."

"No, it's fine. I'll just ride a cab, really." I declined but Tyler wants otherwise.

"I totally insist."

I sighed in retreat. "Alright then if that's what you want. I'll just be quick anyway."

"Good, now let's go?"

I nodded.

As I follow my son and Tyler on the way to the parking lot I couldn't help but smile. They're totally bonding! I have never seen my son this happy and excited, same goes with Tyler who is busy singing the words we're going to play hockey a million times until we reach his truck.

"You brought your truck?" I asked a bit anxious that I might don't know how to drive it.

"Yeah, what's wrong?" He asks back as he opens the door to let Sky settle at the backseat.

"Do I even know how to drive this?" I stupidly ask which made Tyler to snort.

"Of course you can." He said giggling and hop unto the front seat closes the door and opens the window. "It's just the same with a normal sized car, Keya."

I exhaled.

"Let's go mommy!" Sky shouts.

"You heard our son, let's go." Tyler said giving me his charming smile and I suddenly felt butterflies which is definitely a wrong sensation to feel. Not anymore you don't Keya! I reminded myself.

I gathered my shit up and sighed right before getting inside the car. When I finally have settled and buckled my seatbelt I already started the engine releasing a huge exhale.

"You'll be fine." Tyler reassured.

And he was right, driving his truck is just the same with a normal sized car but then again this vehicle isn't mine so I drive it carefully, and when I say carefully it means driving it real slow. Few moments later when we finally arrived at the American Airlines.

"You're already late, I guess." I said stopping the car in front of the entrance door exclusive for the players and staffs.

"It's totally fine. Sky is with me anyway, mom is already waiting inside she just texted me." Tyler said and beamed at Sky. "We're here buddy! Are you ready?"

My son nodded smiling widely as he claps his hands. Tyler laughed and hop out of the car, as he gets our son out of the car too I couldn't help but admire these whole thing!

"Say bye to momma!" Tyler said.

"Bye bye!" Sky did waving his hands.

"Bye baby, be a good boy alright?" I reminded and he nodded. "I'll see you guys later."

"Drive safe!" Tyler said.

"Watch out for him." I said and went off sighing.

To be honest, everything that is going on right now haven't fully synced in for sure it will still take months right before I process it in my head thoroughly. You know why? Because I didn't see this one coming and I didn't thought that this will happen.

I never thought about Tyler really wanting to be a father and do the things he is doing right now. The genuine happiness and excitement that I see on his face everytime he sees Sky is more like a wildest dream, and yet no, it is now my reality-- our reality!

Currently, he is taking Sky to his work. I am driving his truck and I'm picking them up later after my meeting. Like, this is insane! I never pictured out our life to be like this.

I laughed like a complete idiot as I park Tyler's truck in front of the Arts and Sciences department building. When I hop out of the car and head straight to the main entrance, I heard someone calling my name and when I turned it was Jessy.

"Hey Keya! Wait up!" She called running towards me and gave me a quick hug. "Nice ride!"

"That's Tyler's." I answered and by the mention of that name her jaw literally dropped followed with the loudest shriek ever. "Hey!"

"Oh my god!!!! Finally!!!" She shouts.

"Will you please calm down?"

"When was this?" Jessy asks as we start walking heading to the auditorium hall for the meeting.

"Just yesterday, to make the whole story short. Tyler's mom got me busted at the mall." I said.

"You have to tell us the whole story hun! But soon when the other girls are here." Jessy said.

We finally entered the auditorium and the faculty meeting is about to start. Both of us settled on the chair just close enough at the main entrance, honestly, I don't have plans on focusing to this meeting since my mind is at Sky right now. Hopefully, Tyler and his mom is looking out for him. My son tends to be so hyper sometimes, so I'm kind of really worried also considering the fact that Tyler and his mom aren't used to him so I am worried.

"Have you heard the news?" Jessy said all of a sudden. "Thomas is actually the new Science department chairperson."

Oh right, Thomas. The boyfriend I have never had! I haven't seen him around since I got back, well I guess that's because I only have few loads this semester and I spend my time at the house making my dissertation if I don't have a class or at graduate school for that matter.

"That's cool. I thought he resigned." I replied.

"He did two years ago, but he went back just last year." Jessy said. "Have you guys seen each other already?"

I shake my head. "No, we haven't yet."

Jessy smirked. "He's been looking for you! I just really felt like he is still so obsessed with you."

"Oh shush!" I said brushing it off.

"He'll be here, you should say hi!"

"If I bump into him then I will." I replied.
