Chapter 10: Bad Dream
-Cassie-
I was slightly dazed. One minute I’m about to give my very first real kiss away to Gabe, and the next I’m staring at three massive, majorly pissed off body guards with arms crossed over their chests and eyebrows raised. Silently, I gulped away the moment of fear I had just experienced and replaced it with an emotionless mask.
“I was in the middle of something.” I sighed in annoyance. Not one second later, they began yelling at me in an incomprehensible unison. Patiently, I waited for them to finish their worried rants. Well all except Zero, who was rolling on the floor laughing at me muttering ‘I told you so’, in between breaths. Once they concluded their endless amounts of questions and lectures they were left breathless. I raised an eyebrow at them.
“Are you done?” they gave me a brief nod allowing me to speak. “Finally! I was out on a date, to answer your question.” They were about to bombard me again before I held my hand up so I could continue. “We didn’t do anything. All we did was eat, and hang out, that is it! I’m sorry I didn’t tell you where I was, but I knew if I did you would come and get me, and I wanted to have a little fun.” Shrugging, I slipped by them and went into the kitchen, jumping on Zero’s stomach in the process, making him grunt in pain.
“Next time you do something so- so reckless, I will hunt you down like a wild animal!” Hale bellowed. I rolled my eyes and proceeded to grab an apple.
“I’m a whole lot harder to track then you think Hun.” I giggled at his mere stupidity. Brushing shoulders with Soul who was still fuming but with a look that screamed relief, I skipped to my underground in-house gym.
As I entered I heard the short gasps of ‘awe’ as they all followed. Had I forgotten to give them a tour of the estate? Whoopsies, well their here now, might as well get some use out of it.
“Dropping the subject, wanna work out with me?” Zero eagerly nodded as he took in the room along with the other two, who still seemed to be in shock. Yes I admit my gym is enormous, complete with every piece of machinery and equipment out there, even a pool, sauna, and a back door with about 80 steps down and 100 back up in order to get to the 25 mile long running trail that leads through woods and hills and it is amazing to run!
They are such guys, overwhelmed with a big gym, kinda like me in my own library. I went straight to the door; it was my absolute favorite part of this place. Yet when I turned my head to see where they went to first, I noticed they were still at my heels.
“Are you going to run with me?” I asked hopefully, no one has ever ran this trail with me. All three nodded and walked to my sides. I opened the door and began my count down. Realizing this, they quickly noted that this was officially a race. “GO!” I hollered and hopped down the stairs only to charge up them twice as fast.
I have yet to sprint though, only an idiot would go full speed first chance they got. Glancing over my shoulder, my eyes widened at the fact that Hale was a lot closer than expected, whereas Zero was a safe distance away from Hale and Soul even further behind. The thing that surprised me was Hale, I may not be going my fastest, but I am going at an abnormally fast pace. I have just broken a sweat, I haven’t even begun to come close to being breathless and judging on the tree I just passed, I’d say we are about 9 or 10 miles in. To say I’m impressed would be an understatement.
Let’s make this interesting. Picking up my pace so I was quite a bit ahead of him, began to show them my personal playground. As I leapt and bounded from tree roots and rocks, dove through trees and swung from branches like Tarzan, we neared the real fun. An old abandon building in the woods, I don’t know why it’s here, what it was, or what happened to it, all I know is it sure is fun to play in.
