Chapter 8: Two More??

-Cassie-

The other night wasn't very event full, but it was still fun just the same. I think Gabe is starting to get jealous of Hale. I need to start spending more time with him without a certain body guard following me around all of the time, especially on dates! Now, how do I find a way to escape him without him finding out until I am far enough away that he can't follow me? I could sneak out the window. No, that wouldn't work; I am too much of a wimp to jump from a second story window, plus with my amount of clumsiness, I would probably end up breaking my neck. Oh I know, I could leave when he is in the bathroom. Actually, I have never seen him go to the restroom before. Or I could just lock him in his room and run away... Yea, that would totally work... note the sarcasm. Stupid inner voice! I shook the thoughts out of my head as I trotted down stairs. Suddenly the overwhelmingly amazing smell of fresh coffee captivates me. I feel like I am in one of those cartoons where I am floating to where the sent is coming from with a nose the size of a monkey.

As I enter the kitchen I see Hale with his back to me flipping pancakes like a pro. Two unfamiliar men are sitting at the bar sipping their mugs, talking in hushed tones. I clear my throat gathering the whole room's attention.

"Where is Bethany?" I ask him. Yes I refer to my mother by her first name. She was never a mother, mom, or mommy to me so I refuse to call her that when she isn't able to hear. And yes there is a big difference between the three; a mother is the one who gave birth to you and kept a roof over your head and fed you the end. A mom is all that but she also attends dance recitals instead of sending a nanny, and tucked you in at night and cooked with you. Finally a mommy is the best you could have, they are the type who get on their hands and knees in the dirt and play with you, and the kind that allows you to do their make up when you clearly don't even know what lipstick is. Mine was none of the above. Thus she is mother to her face and Bethany the rest of the time.

Anyways back to the topic at hand.

"She had to go to meeting early this morning." He said placing a plate of food down in front of me. I said a quick thanks before turning my attention to the boys at the counter. "Cassie I need to tell you something." I got a sinking feeling in my stomach by the seriousness in his voice and the slightly worried look on his face. I gulped.

"What?"

"It has been brought to my attention that several of David's men go to your school." I felt my face drain of all color when I heard his words. It hadn't quite registered in my head but I still felt like I was going to be sick.

"And they are?" I put on a brave face and looked back to the strangers in my kitchen.

"This is Zero, and this is Soul." I noticed that the two looked almost identical. They both had whiteish silver hair and lightly tanned skin. They had a few differences though. Zero had black irises and short straight hair that fell past his eyes, whereas Soul had red eyes and hair that spiked up to the side. No they were not albinos, I don't know why they looked like that, they just did. But they also looked very professional. Zero had a white suit with thick black seams, a black under shirt, and a red tie on. Soul had a black suit with a red under shirt and a black tie on. "They are twins." No shit Sherlock! "They will also be going to your school, as more body guards."

"Jesus how many do I need? You're acting like I'm the Queen of England or the Pope or something!"

"I cannot protect you alone, so I called in some friends." Just what I need, more body guards to get away from. So much for going unnoticed. Bad thing is they actually dress like body guards, unlike Hale.
