But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be...On your own front door.

Location: Robinson Park, Gotham City

Date: December 24th, 2021 (Christmas Eve)

Snow was showering down lightly over Robinson Park, which was brightly lit by the dancing of holiday lights and the ground was paved over by shallow snow. Inside the park's coffee shop, the loud sizzling of coffee brewing filled the air along with the laughter of merry people. The barista brought two hot coffee cups to the counter and shouted for the rightful owners.

"Venti hot cappuccino with soy and one venti black coffee for Bruce." Bruce and Diana grabbed their respected coffees off the counter and retreated to a corner of the coffee shop.

"I will never understand you ordering straight-up black coffee." Diana stated with a hint of confusion behind her voice.

"I just need the caffeine." Bruce firmly answered, which made Diana chuckle.

"Well Bruce, thank you for the coffee." Diana smiled with complete gratitude and leaned forward to gently kiss Bruce on the cheek. Bruce was visibly flustered from the forced peck and immediately moved on with the conversation as if too quickly to force himself to forget the awkward moment. Diana noticed that he was nervous and felt apologetic about forcing an unwelcome kiss.

"I only got the coffee because you told me the whole way here on how its traditional for people to walk outside during Christmas with hot cocoa. It's not hot cocoa, but I thought you would appreciate coffee more."

"I do appreciate it, Bruce." Diana gave Bruce another smile, which hypnotized Bruce.

   Her smile...

"Besides, I would have kept nagging you until you bought me coffee." Diana said playfully.

"Also, I've seen couples walk in the park with hot drinks in their hands, I always told myself that I wanted that for a date like this." Bruce seemed distant when Diana recalled her wish.

"Diana...this isn't a date." Diana's joy disappeared after Bruce firmly retorted.

"You asked me if I remember the rooftop that one night and yes, I do. I told you before and I'll say it again: Diana, we cannot be what you want. We both grew up very differently, we both have vastly different values; we both come from entirely different worlds, and we share nothing alike. There is nothing I can give you. I can't give you what you want. I just can't. I'm a mortal man, you're a demi-goddess, an immortal warrior princess. We couldn't be any different. Besides, I told you this before, I'm a man with many issues, you don't deserve to share those issues with me. I can't give you happiness and joy as you want. Also, we are colleagues, it would complicate things too much and we cannot afford that. I won't let that jeopardize my mission. Lastly, if my enemies found out about us, they would...I won't...I refuse to live like that. I have enough problems to deal with as it is. So, please Diana, please, stop! We are here as friends. That is the best for you, for me, and for everyone in general." Bruce looked away from Diana as he begrudgingly rejected Diana's feelings. Diana was not angry, instead, she only sighed out of frustration for Bruce's denial. Bruce kept staring out of the window.

"Bruce..." Diana placed her hand gently on his shoulder, which made him turn back towards her.

"I just wish you understood that I don't care about any of that. Also, I'm going to prove you wrong." Diana said light heartily and winked as she walked away.

Bruce and Diana walked through the holiday light tunnel, which had the flickering lights dancing to the rhythms of whichever holiday song was playing. The song that was directing the lit tunnel was, "It's beginning to look like Christmas." They walked closely together side by side: Diana had her hands inside the pockets of her black clothed trench coat, while Bruce walked with his all-black leather gloves, shined dress shoes; pressed pants, short trench coat and scarf.
