A/N: Hi! I hope you guys like this new chapter. Who would you like Rhine to end up with? Plase let me know! Enjoy <3
I've been watchin' you for some time
Can't stop starin' at those ocean eyes
Burning cities and napalm skies
Fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes
Your ocean eyesNo fair
You really know how to make me cry
When you gimme those ocean eyes
I'm scared
I've never fallen from quite this high
Fallin' into your ocean eyes
Those ocean eyesSomeone's pounding on my door. It startles me awake, and the first thing I grab for is my gun that's hidden underneath the mattress, before making my way to the door. When I look through the peek hole, I sigh in relief.
"James, why don't you knock like a normal person? Or call me?" I exclaim when I open the door, only to stop when I see the look on his face. He seems... tired. And like he's onto something. He stumbles in, not saying a word, and grabs the scotch from my liquor cabinet, since he knows this place as well as his own.
"What's going on?" I ask once he's downed the first two glasses, sitting down beside him on the couch. Something doesn't feel right, and it worries me.
"Something's wrong... Did you watch the news?" He asks, grabbing the TV remote before I even answer to turn it on, knowing I do not watch TV whatsoever.
'Dia De Los Muertos was heavily disturbed yesterday by two men chasing and fighting each other all throughout town, interrupting the festivities... The identity of both men is unknown, but people have suggested spies are involved...'
"James... is that you fighting a guy in a helicopter?" I ask slowly, watching the footage of the two of them. It was impossible not to recognize him if you knew him. He nods, studying the images himself with a serious look on his face. It wasn't like him to do missions in the open like this.
"Does Mallory know about this? Surely he can cover it up-
"It wasn't a mission." He interrupts, blue eyes meeting mine.
"Oh." Gareth would be pissed.
"I can cover for you if you want." I speak up without hesitation, but he takes my hand in his and shakes his head.
"This is my responsibility. I just need a few more days off the grid, without those trackers they're going to implant in our agents, which is ridiculous by the way." James rambles.
"I didn't know they were going to do that?" James' concerned and annoyed look tells me enough about the whole implant plan.
"If they ask me where you are, I'm not saying anything. Just call me if you need help." I reassure him, and he nods, knowing that would have been my answer anyways.
"I think it has to do with my past..." James speaks up again after a moment, making me frown.
"Sounds like nothing good then. Come on, I've got to get to work, and I'm sure you've got some explaining to do with Mallory." I get up, dragging him along.

"Come in." Gareth speaks up. As I open it, Eve gives me a look that says 'good luck', and I give her
a grin before entering the room. I close the door behind me and turn around. Gareth sits there at his desk, his beautiful blue eyes meeting my brown ones, making me smile at him.
