I regretted waking up the Next day. I went to the fridge for "breakfast" aka my precious. Ew, why'd I buy Bud light. I don't even drink that shit. Guess I was in such a rush....OH SHIT, my job! Guess I better show up sober. But I need it! No! No. I can go without it for two days. (counting yesterday) I grab my hoodie and the card she handed me. Unfortunately it was kind of far away. Eh Walking keeps me skinny anyway, so does lack of food too I guess heh. I was just kinda happy just to leave my shit apartment. It was honestly kinda disgusting. I usually don't clean that much and being my living style, Filth builds up quickly. I don't how well I'll be able to do my job if it's cleaning. Speaking of she never really said with the job was. Kinda ominous, I should know better than to run into situations like this... But some thing feels so right about her. Not like I like her or anything she just seems so warm and open. That sounds kind of weird when I'm talking about a complete stranger.
I walked about 53 minutes or so before coming to a neighborhood of big fancy houses. I felt my jaw drop on the pavement. These were the kinds of places Ma always went on about and how she wished dad would've made enough money for one of these. It was amazing! I had no idea these were here but they were gorgeous! Suddenly I felt my knees give out.
"I've been walking for a really long time" I muttered in realization. "Hey! You ok?" A young woman in a warm looking red coat came running up to me. She held out a hand to help me up." Yeah I'm fine." I sighed.
She looked at me strangely. I guess I didn't really belong here, after all I'm nothing like these people they're all rich, white and fabulous. " isn't it much too cold to be just wearing that" she said tilting her head to the side. I let out a small gasp. I realized I'd been far too quick to judge. I felt myself blush a bit and started fidgeting.
"I guess so." I murmured. I quickly remembered what I came here to do "do you know where...uhhhhhh Priya! Priya might live?" I asked my most polite voice while trying to remember the woman's name. "Sure thing buddy!" She said it as if she was talking to a child. It made my face get a bit hot. She pointed to the largest house on the street. "Right over there." She said. I was in awe it was amazing."Thanks." I said. I felt myself getting energy and started walking to the house "My names Tyree by the way!" I shouted looking back while. " The name is June!" she shouted back. 'I think I made a friend' I thought to myself. The thought warmed me and sheltered to me from the cold.
I knocked on the door. A girl, probably my age (18) answered the door. She was wearing a dress with small floral patterns on it. "umm I'm Tyree Clarke. I think I'm here for a job?" I said it with a good amount of uncertainty. "Ah yes, Come in sir." She exclaimed. I was shocked to see the large main entrance, there were TWO WHOLE STAIRCASES! I looked around and saw a wooden shelf with coat hangers there was a stylish trench coat, a pretty denim jacket and the black puffy coat she was wearing when I met her. The whole place smelled really nice. "This way." she said leading me through a large hall. We turned into what looked like an office.
We entered, there was a desk with a high tech computer and a comfy chair. The place was pretty well decorated with plants and such. The lady pulled up a chair across from the desk. "Please sit, the Miss will be with you in a moment." She smiled. 'Miss?' Did she mean Priya? It's so weird calling her by her first name but I don't have anything else to go off of.
After she left. I was alone for a few minutes. I decided to lose my self in my thoughts to pass the time. I jumped a bit when the door opened. "Oh, sorry I didn't mean to scare you, bubs!" Priya said quietly. "I-i wasn't scared." I mumbled defensively. What was I!? A child!? She sat at the desk. Then she spoke "Now the job will require you to live with me is that alright?" Finally! I would be out of my shit apartment! "Yes ma'am!" I almost yelled. She chuckled a bit. Had I said something funny? I guess my remark was a bit weird. "Inside voice, bubs." She smiled. 'Huh? I'm not five lady.' I said internally. "Oh, sorry." I fiddled with the strings of my hoodie.
"It's fine. Would you like some water?" She asked. "Oh sure." I mumbled still a bit embarrassed. She poured it from a pitcher on the desk. I saw her put a brandless packet of powder in it. "It's a water softener." She said seeing my confused look. I guess that makes sense since she so fancy. When she handed the water to me I took a sip. It tasted kinda funny. I felt a really tired, What the hell was in that water? "Now, the job will provide meals, health insurance, sick days and housing." She said warmly. "That's...sounds g-great." I said try to not nod off. "I just need your signature on one thing." I could barely read the contract in my state. 'I'm sure it's fine' I made a mental note. I signed off on it. I felt so tired I could barely stand it. Priya put the document in a filing cabinet. "I think it's someone's nap time. Isn't that right Mister!" Priya cooed getting up from her chair. "Huh?" I tried to get up from mine but my limbs felt so heavy. What was going on!? Priya couldn't be talking to me, right?!
She quickly scooped me up. How is she so strong!? She certainly doesn't look it! But it felt so good and safe in her arms. No! No Tyree! That's wierd! I tried to get down but Priya held me tight. "Sh,sh,sh it's ok babes. You must be sooo sleepy." I really was. Maybe she was right...
