"One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood."

"The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls" Mr. Tanner announced. "How many casualties resulted in this battle? Miss Bennett."

Bonnie's body stiffened at the sound of her name.

"Um... a lot?" The class quietly laughed. "I'm not sure. Like a whole lot." I shook my head at her answer.

'Oh, Bonnie, you've just set yourself up in a very bad way.'

"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Miss Bennett," Mr. Tanner told her. I stiffened in my chair at that. While I may not be super close to Bonnie, she's still a friend and I don't like my friends to be messed with. I almost opened my mouth to speak but Matt kicked my chair, knowing what I was about to do, and stopped me from trouble-making along with Rett and Cad's warning looks directed to me.

"Mr. Donovan," Mr. Tanner called out next. I slightly stiffened. Oh heck no. "Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?" I almost leaped out of my chair at that but Matt kicked it hard so that it was forced forwards to stop me, again. I almost ignored him but Cad and Rett daring and challenging look for me to even try stopped me as well as Matt replying before I could.

"It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it." I breathed a small sigh of relief at how easy-going and chill Matt is, but I'm still furious with Tanner.

"Don't think I haven't noticed your distractions, Mr. Dillon. Since you so clearly know all the material, would you want to prove your brilliance here and now?" The fury inside me has reached bubbling over point but Matt kicked my chair again, Luke glanced over his shoulder in worry for me as well as expressing caution, and both Rett and Cad gave me a look of "don't you even freaking try it or else we'll get you back for it"  forced me to take a breath but even before I could say anything, Cad casually answered,

"My brilliance does not need to be proven, Tanner. It just is." Cad lifted his hands to the back of his head for it to lean on while tilting his chair backward while still leaning on the back; casually smirked, silently challenging Mr. Tanner to rise to the bait, but he just sniffed and turned away.
