It was a couple days later I was called into Sheriff Forbes' office.
"Hey, Sheriff Forbes!" I greeted. She looked at me with a smile though there was a bit of a guarded look in there.
"Did you need something from me?" I asked, getting straight to the point.
"Yes, I need to question you on Vicki's disappearance," she answered as I sat in the chair across from her. I gave her a puzzled look.
"Oh. Okay, um, what do you need?" I stumble a little, slightly caught off guard.
"Where did Vicki say she was going?" she immediately started.
"She didn't say anything to me. Matt told me that she told Jeremy that she was leaving town," I supplied, honestly.
" Is there anyone I can talk to that may know what happened to her prior to her leaving town?"
"Matt, I guess, as he's her brother, but he doesn't know a lot from what he's told me. Maybe Jeremy, they were dating right before she left. Tyler, they were dating before Jeremy and her. I don't know anyone else."
"What was her behavior like those last few days before she left?
"She and I aren't close, but she seemed really off to me. Like she was on some serious drugs and her emotions were all over the place. She also didn't come into the Grill during her shifts like she normally does. She hates it and doesn't work very hard at it, but she needs it and she does usually come in."
"Any signs of aggression or violence?"
"Not that I saw."
"So you believe Vicki really has left town?"
"I mean, I don't really know everything that led to her disappearance, but the way things add up, yeah. Yes, I do. I don't know why, I mean, I know her life wasn't perfect, but she adored Matt. And I saw how much she liked Jeremy so it just seems weird to me that she'd disappear out of the blue like that. But nothing else makes sense. So I guess so," I sighed. Vicki and I aren't close by any means, but she's Matt's sister. And she was sort of a friend.
