"Subah ki pehli dhoop hai, jo na dekha ho kabhi aisa roop hai, aankhon se dekhe toh phool khil jaate hai, baal bikhere toh moti bikhar jate hain! nasha aise jaise koyi mahangi sharab hai – meri aadat jo woh kharab hai! sardiyon ki thandi hawa hai, mere dil ki dua hai. Saahil se har baar takraati leher hai. meri zindagi ki saanjh, zindagi ki seher hai. Bas itna samjho ke mere jeevan ke rango ka indradhanush hai... Saudamini!"
These lines were said by Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury about his childhood sweetheart Saudamini. These lines are beautiful, artistic, no doubt about that. But these lines are superficial if you notice closely. While the first few lines describe Saudamini's outer beauty, the last few lines depict his own fantasy of how his soulmate is supposed to be which he then believed was Saudamini. Initially, he wanted Saudamini to be a part of his revolutionary plans & wanted her support him & understand him. He mistook that her surface beauty reflected her inner goodness. She couldn't. She was selfish. She was haughty. She was also a part of the same crowd who called his passion towards changing the society as madness. Saudamini was a shallow person who couldn't think beyond her beauty & how she could enchant Aniruddh through it to change himself just couldn't understand how deep he is as a person. They were completely incompatible & wanted different things from life. Aniruddh wanted to change the world while Saudamini wanted a comfortable & luxurious lifestyle. (There is nothing wrong in wanting that). Even if Bondita didn't come into their lives they would've still fallen apart. Aniruddh & Saudamini NEVER felt love for each other, if they would've, Aniruddh would've been shattered to see Saudamini's wrong doings. He would've been heartbroken. But he was least affected & likewise if Saudamini loved Aniruddh truly she would've been his strength, she would've stood by him guiding him to the right path or if it hurt too much much just walked away from his life. Not planned & plotted to destroy & kill a girl who has no fault of her own.
We all sympathised with her pain of losing out on a person she thought she loved but her actions can never be justified. When you truly love someone, THEIR happiness becomes priority to you & you DO NOT obsess to acquire them by any means.
