BONDITA

"Ek tumhari aankhein shararti, toh ek tumhari masoom si muskaan. Kabhi unpe hum dil haare, toh kabhi haar baithe apni jaan!"

While these words that he utters for Bondita are the absolute truth. Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury has time & again fought tooth & nail, gave up on his principles, risked his own life to keep Bondita's smile & innocence intact.
She has never demanded his attention, but has always commanded it. Not with her beauty though but with her intellect & goodness which reflects on her face. Aniruddh always wanted a life partner who could brave the storms of revolution holding his hand tight. Bondita gave him that, unconditional support but never encouraged him when she felt he was going wrong. If Aniruddh gave her the power of education, Bondita became his guiding light. If Aniruddh supported her in every step of the way like a true friend, Bondita too made him aware of his difficult duties towards the society from time to time like best friends do. If Aniruddh loved & cared for her unconditionally as a husband, Bondita too refused to give up on him & stood by him like a true wife when the world deemed him mad. They are what a true soulmate should be like.

When Aniruddh said to Trilochan,

"Bondita meri puja hai, mera karm hai, mera dharm hai, meri sakhi hai, meri janam janam ki saathi hai.."

It was the ultimate truth of his life. While it was romantic & opulent, it was the truth, the way Aniruddh treats Bondita is no less than how a devotee would treat his devotion, there is nothing in the entire world that he wouldn't do for her. She is that one person in the entire world who can understand him like no one ever can. Her mere presence in his life gives him peace.

"Main tumhari haathon ki lakir ban jaun, tum meri qismat ban jao... main tumhari hadd ban jaun, toh tum meri zidd ban jao! main tumhari nind ban jaun, toh tum meri subah ban jao. Main tum mein, tum mujh mein kuch yun sama jao, ki tum main ban jao aur main... main tum ban jaun!"

Now if you look at these lines carefully, you'll realise how in keeping this piece is with Aniruddh & Bondita's journey as soulmates. Aniruddh saved Bondita from the devious fire of Sati, she became his destiny & he became hers. Everything she did was for him, she was limitless because he was her boundary. His stubborness to give her what she deserves fuelled his life. Eventually with time he became the centre of her peace while she became his lamp of love & hope in the darkest of times. They became so tangled through the soul with each other that they slowly became each other's reflection as they fell in love with each other.

Aniruddh never used superficial flowery words for Bondita, whatever he said for her & to her was the truth. The ultimate truth.

He never called Bondita his indradhanush or rainbow but time & again has acknowledged & thanked her for bringing colours into his life. Even painting her with the colours to make her & us viewers realise who actually is the rainbow of his life.

This show through Aniruddh's journey of falling in love with Bondita actually shows us that when you truly fall in love, big flowery words don't matter. Only actions do.
