"She's playing with you sweetheart, I haven't seen the girl my entire life,-"
"Because I was given away! How many times do I have to remind you?" The girl screamed at him, a look of disbelief and absolute fury on her face.
Caroline shook her head in confusion. "Wait, Esther gave you away? Why would she do that?"
Klaus moved his gaze to Caroline, annoyed at how she's talking to the girl as if they were best friends, and scoffed dubiously. "Are you seriously trusting her? She could be a foe for all we know!"
Caroline shut him up but putting a finger on his lips, and looked back at the girl with the amused expression on her face. "You were saying."
Klaus gave the girl a death stare and dared her to speak in his home. She just smiled and moved to look at the fierce blonde who had her brother whipped like chains.
"Esther was forced to give me away. Her sister, our aunt - Dhalia, was a woman with great power, but her intentions were foul and ratchet. Esther had created a new coven were she could begin and share her dark magic. And due to that she was sentenced a warning. But my mother," the girl stuttered, hiding a tear that had fallen, pausing. "She didn't listen."
Caroline, who'd been listening quite eagerly, had settled to lay her head on Klaus' arms, and nodded for the girl to continue, also wiping her tears.
Klaus rolled his eyes as the girl began to speak. It was fake. Everything. And Caroline was sucking it up!
"She began to do more magic, practised day and night, ignoring all warnings. And by the third week, her price had been delayed too much. Dhalia came to the village. She requested for the first born child, told my mother that it was her price, and it was what would happen to each first born of her children."
Silence creeped up on them and Caroline moved to hug the wrecked blonde, a sad smile on her face.
They stood like that for minutes until finally, Klaus had had enough.
"What a wonderful tale. Can we expect a wolf to come into it as well? It would be more fascinating."
Caroline pulled away from the frustrated looking girl and gasped at his words, hitting him in the chest.
"Why are you being so harsh?! She's your sister!"
He then scoffed, finding her comment an insult. "That is not in any way true."
"How would you know? She's clearly telling the truth!"
"How would you know that?! You don't even know her, she's a stranger."
"Klaus. All I'm saying is that she knows a part of your past, your mother, and don't deny it because everything you heard is true, and frankly, I find it true too."
"Enlighten me, from where could you have possibly got this information from Caroline?" He asked, unfazed.
She pressed her lips together, knowing that this was a conversation they should be having on their own.
"I can't tell you."
He frowned. "Why?"
Her eyes darted around, not being able to look him in the eyes since their two weeks of secretly dating had finally given him access to understand all her facial expressions, and their meaning.
His frown deepened and he let out a breath of air, finally looking at the girl behind Caroline and lifted an eyebrow.
"What's your name?" He finally asked, confused as to why he hadn't asked the whole time she'd attacked him.
She cleared her throat. "Why?"
"Because I want to know."
"Know why?"
"Because I want to know!"
She sighed. "It's Freya."
He face palmed himself, a deep noise from his throat giving away his uncanny confusion.
"God why." He murmured.
"So you believe me?"
"No. Get out of my house."
"But Dhalia is coming to Mystic Falls!"
"I know, which is why I'm going to plan her farewell party."
"But she is dangerous, brother."
"Do not call me by that name!" He shouted, finally. And he sped towards her, face inches away.
"Get out of my house or I will be forced to kill you."
She narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms in front of her.
"No."
He smiled in amusement, making a move to snap her neck when she uttered those words. Those words.
"I want my siblings out of those coffins first."
His eyes widened then, and he took careful steps back.
"How did you know about that?" He kept his eyes on her.
Freya smirked. "I'm Esther's daughter and a witch. I would know if my family was in danger."
"And..If you speak the truth?"
"Then lay low because I will help you all I can." She said seriously. Taking cautious steps towards him, she put a hand on his arm and looked at him. "You are my brother, Niklaus. And family is important to me as it is to you, Rebekah, and Elijah."
He pursed his lips and looked sideways, at Caroline who was smiling with tears in her eyes.
"Fine."
Freya grinned. "Great! Now, where is our family?"
"We cannot let them out. We need to wait for the amateur gang of vampires to stop their haste on killing us." He muttered.
Freya raised an eyebrow. "Why not just kill them?"
"Because they're confused. Stupid idiotic children who think they can take their threats and harm me and my family with it."
"Plus, they're my friends." Caroline said from the couch.
Freya gave her a small smile. "And you're the girl who saved my brother from tarnishing his humanity aside. I'm grateful."
"How did you know about that?" Klaus interrupted, walking towards the bourbon bottle and pouring glasses.
Freya looked at him and sighed. "I watched you. Whenever you located from place to place with our family, I watched you. I couldn't do much but stare and sometimes..I helped fight Mikael away."
"Did he ever see you?" Caroline asked, playing with Klaus' curls. He was layed back on the sofa while Freya spoke, admiring her beauty and her courage.
Rebekah never had those bested qualities except her life and family. She was brave, yes, but never courageous enough.
"No, I took precautions. I was never seen."
"Wow. Some sister you got here Klaus." Caroline sing-songed and he laughed.
"Can I see them?"
Klaus moved his focus to the other blonde. "Why?"
"I want to touch them. Maybe I'll get to see what they have thoughts about. To see their last memory." She said.
He nodded, and held Caroline by his side as they walked up the stairs.
In the torture room..
Stefan closed his eyes as water filled him.
Caroline was being controlled by Klaus.
She was being compelled.
Something he told her she never would be.
He had failed to save his own sister..
His own best friend.
