Jaelyn POV

"what's got you so smiley" mom asked as i was sitting at the table eating my lunch.

i decided to go over and see them, as i haven't been over for a couple days.

"nothing" i knew she wouldn't by it and i would end up telling her.

"really? its got to be something. you have been on that phone on and off almost this whole time" she raised an eye brow.

"okay so there a guy" i decided to tell her.

she looked surprised but also happy. i knew she was going to start asking a bunch of questions. the thing is though i would tell her. because mom and i are super close.

"okay and how did you guys meet?" she looked excited.

"well we met at the hockey game a couple days ago." i started.

"oh was he sitting close to you?" she was smiling.

"not exactly" i didn't get to finish before she blurted.

"is he a player!" she looked shocked.

i slowly nodded.

"who" she was grinning.

"Kaden Miller" i said in a hushed tone.

"i am sorry did you just say Kaden Miller?" she gasped.

"mhm" i nodded and of course dad decided to walk in at that moment.

"what about Kaden Miller?" Dad decided to ask.

"we where just talking about the game that the kids went to the other day, and how well he played" mom covered for me.

i shot her a great full smile.

"well it was a great game" Dad nodded and poured himself a cup of coffee that was from the pot mom brewed for us earlier.

Dad came and sat down at the table. he has a look on his face, and i knew what he was going to talk about before he opened his mouth.

"are you ready for the visit this weekend?" he has a sad look on his face.

mom placed a hand on my back, she knew how hard it was for me to talk about this, not that is was any easier for her.

"i can't believe she would have been Twenty" i sniffled.

"well we have to remember that it was just her time to go, we should be glad we got as many years as her as we did." mom always tells me this. but it didn't make it hurt any less.

"i know it's just not fair, why her. you know she didn't deserve that" i wiped under my eyes.

"i know honey" Dad agreed.

"i hate leukaemia" i whispered.

"i think we all do" mom was right.

i leaned my head on her shoulder, the happiness i was feeling earlier gone. i sighed if feels like forever ago. i just don't understand how someone so young so innocent at twelve years old was taken. she should still be here, shining her light and happiness.
