Chapter 3. Dinner?

I woke up, clock says it's 5: 33 p.m., it's time to get ready for the shift, but I don't want to get out of the bed, still I drag myself out and get dressed, I wore blue skinny jeans with maroon pullover my shoulder length hairs cascading down in a messy wave and I'm ready, oh I forgot my keys.

"10 minutes, yeah I can still grab a coffee"

I walked in cafe opposite to our hospital, I love the aroma of their coffee plus they give discount to the hospital staff, after getting my coffee I take a sip and enter in the hospital. I watch time. Shit, I'm late.

I went straight to the residents lounge, I'm alone I'm definitely in some trouble, getting in the bad side of Doctor Jo (head of general surgery) is the last thing I want to do, I changed in my light blue scrubs, tie my hair and run for the rounds. When i reached there everyone was already there .

"Dr. Wade, welcome I would love to see you here before me."

"I'm sorry Dr. Jo "

"Any excuse Dr. Wade? "

"No Doctor "

"Okay, today you're at ER and out of this case. "

"Yes, doctor "

I took my walk of shame to the ER and when I reach there, I smiled and walked towards Jessica my friend since college. Jessica is a blonde with long straight hair with a curvy fit body and she is here, so I'm guessing she is also late. Cause it's kinda punishment for us being at ER not at OR cause we are surgeons we came here when it's emergency, some trauma , or when we kicked out of a case, just like I did ,otherwise we basically belong to OR .

"Hey " I tapped her shoulder, and she jumped. She wasn't aware I'm here .

"Hey girl , you are here hahaha late?

"Hmm and don't laugh isn't you're here for the same reason " she giggled and said while
looking at the nurse's station.

"Go and work otherwise they would complain"

"Complain , why would they do that? " I asked, and I was confused cause they basically don't care as long as we work .

"Actually , yesterday one of the intern lost the scans and a nurse got fired "

"What , what happened? "

"So what happened is intern said , he leaves scan at Nurse's station and went to do stitches on a child who was waiting for like 15 minutes and when he came back to get the results it wasn't there , so they call the nurse who was there and asked her if she know , she said she didn't check the date on result and throw it to the bin with some old paper . "

"Wow , thank god I was not there i don't like this tense situation. "

" Hmm don't worry, they hate us now and only talking work with us like we did something"

" Well, maybe they wanted us to say something. Come on man it's not enough reason to fire someone and what about the intern "

"Well that was MRI results you know how expensive it is , we are not even allowed to order it if it's not necessary , and she didn't care to check the date wow , and the intern is in 2 week night shift plus he is doing all the scut work. "

She replied with a sympathetic look and carry on dressing iron wound of a man he seems at his late 30s what does he even doing with iron. He was listening us the whole time and advice us "you work here so maybe they were wanted a little support, it's you work family after all, just saying ".
