"I'm not even gon hold you, you were wrong as hell. And as fucked up as it sounds...life goes on. It's either yall work through this or become somewhat cordial for the sake of Cici. Cause if yall keep this shit up that yall got going on now, it's only going to effect her,"

Gelo left him with that as he exited his home.

Lamelo never really dealt with what he did that day.

He pushed off all of his feelings and thoughts about the accident and focused on having a good season.

Knowing that Destiny would never change her number he abruptly  decided to call her.

They had to work on their relationship for their daughter.

She wouldn't decline it since she didn't have his new number. She didn't want it.

And if he couldn't see her then he at least wanted to hear her voice.

It was something that he missed.

His heart dropped when he heard the phone stop ringing.

He heard whining in the back making him smile.

Ringing phones always made Ciara whine. Melo assumed that she hated the repetition of the random sounds.

"Sorry, hello," she answered.

Melo tried to say something but the words wouldn't come out. He looked around his large backyard, and then looked at the giant pool that he had to himself.

They were supposed to be sharing this together.

"Ummm helloooo," she laughed.

"Hey, it's....me,"

He knew he didn't have to say his name because she'd recognize his voice anywhere.

The silence from her was extremely loud.

"It's okay...you don't have to say anything if you don't want to,"

"I just wanted to-" Melo groaned as he heard the phone call end.

He knew she was going to hang up eventually.

He had more to say, but if he was being honest, he was afraid to say it to her face...

                                ••

Destiny dropped her phone onto the couch and shook her head a bunch of times.

She couldn't belive it was really him.

He really called her up in the blue out of nowhere.

She wasn't going to stress herself out about it.

If possible, she was just going to force herself to completely even forget about the phone call.

It was one of the things LaMelo and her had in common; running away from their problems.

She shrugged it off and continued going through all of the medical bills she had yet to pay off.

Some of them were from her spinal  surgeries, some from her hospital stay in Hawaii, and the rest were for her rehabilitation sessions.

"None of this is even my fault," she cried out while throwing the papers off of the couch.

She hated that she was being billed for an injury that she didn't want.

An injury that she didn't cause, and an injury that she absolutely did not ask for.

"I should send these bills with you the next time you go by him," Destiny tickled Cici's little foot.
