"mom, i'm fine, seriously." i groaned, hugging my mom at the airport.
she nodded her head as in clarification and kissed my cheeks a few times before pulling my into just another tightly mothers hug. "i'm just worried, i'm your mother." she smiled in the crook of my neck, she had to stand on her tip toes since she was shorter than me, which i thought would be impossible since i myself was so short.
"don't be, it's just collage." i laughed, surprisingly.
she nodded once again, glancing down at my suitcase. "alright," she dried her salty cheeks, "have fun, don't get pregnant and just... try to make some friends. alright?"
"i can't promise anything." i sighed, looking up at the sign over me that was telling what time my boarding was.
"i love you so much, have a safe flight and call me whenever you land. as fast as you can." she rushed her words since she knew it was just time for me to get on the plane.
"take care of you mom."
then my mom hugged me for a while more and told me she loved me about twenty times again until she finally let me go. i waved at her and turned around. my new adventure was finally beggining. yay...
the wheels on my suitcase rolled against the grey plastic carpet floor that was layed all over the airport. yellow arrows on the floor showed the way through the tunnel in to the plane. i accidentally walked on someones shoes as i stepped inside the plane. the boy whom i had stepped on turned around and smiled politely. i just shrugged as if it was his fault for standing there and then walked past the stewardess that was so politely telling the people to have a nice flight.
i found my seat and sat down, plugging in my earphones. i closed my eyes and drifted to sleep, i hated flying. i was scared of heights and flying would only make it worse. i wanted to be asleep when it all happened. and so i was until i awoken by someone tapping my shoulder. i slowly opened my eyes, facing the window. all i could see was clouds but even though my heart started to race. i turned around to face the person who had tapped my shoulder.
the finger belonged to the boy that i had stepped on on my way in. he was grinning at me, gesturing to take out my earphones. i did, not because i was interested in what he had to say but because, well, i didn't really now why. it was a stupid choice to make.
"what?" i sighed, looking at him.
the tanned boy sat next to me and i really hoped that wasn't his real seat, because honestly if he was going to talk to me through the whole flight i'm not sure if i'd jump out of the plane or throw him out of the plane.
"hi." he said, a bubbly laugh coming out.
"hi." i said, knitting my eyebrows. i was confused to why he was speaking to me.
"what's your name?"
"why'd you care?" i asked, not really feeling like revealing my identity to a complete stranger.
"uhm, because... i want... to?" he said, almost if questioning me for it being the right answer.
"sam." i said shortly, looking out through the window which i instantly regretted and turned back to the boy. jesus christ.
"i'm calum, where are you going?"
"why are you still talking to me?" i picked up my phone to give him a hint of me being uninterested in whatever he had to say, but that plan went out the window when i remembered there was no reception on the plane. i locked my phone again, sighing.
"curious."
i nodded, glancing at his fingers that were playing with his sleeves. i looked up at his face again, he gave me a small smile when our eyes met. "why're you still here?"
