I slowly trudged through the woods, searching for any kind of movement that would reveal any being in this dense stretch of land. There was a crunch as someone, or some thing, stepped through bushes. I couldn't quite see what it was, until it had fully revealed itself. I sighed, here we go again! I didn't consider it to be alive, yet it was still animated. I call them attackers, because they try to bite you and eat your flesh. I shuddered before plunging my sword into it's head.

When the chaos first started, I was with my brother, Jake. My parents were at work, and I was watching Jake. There was a noise on the front steps, and Jake went to answer it. He opened the door to see one of the creatures, and it lunged at him. At this point I had absolutely no idea what was going on. I grabbed the closest weapon, a hammer, and jammed it into the thing's head. It sank to the ground in a pool of blood while my brother lay on the ground whimpering."Kelsey, w-what was that?" I shrugged, and started to put pressure on his wound. I gave him a band-aid to put on the small bite mark on his left hand. He will be fine, I said to myself. He will be ok. I walked back outside to see one more creature. I quickly ran back inside, and grabbed the hammer. This time, I slammed the hammer into it's neck. There was blood pouring out of the wound, yet it was still moving towards me. I hit it again, and it's head was almost decapitated, but it still wasn't dying. Then I realized: I had injured the other one's brain. I jumped towards it one more time, and it let out one more groan before dying.
I gasped: what have I done? That was a human being, or at least it used to be. I crumpled to the ground, and started to sob. "Kelsey, are you alright?" Jake rushed over to me and gave me a hug. We both started to cry. I started to get warm, and realized Jake was burning up. I felt his head to double-check. "Oh my gosh, Jake, you have a really high fever! Let's get you inside."
I carried him on my back back to our house, and set him down on the couch. He started to twist and turn on the couch. "Jake? Jake? Are you alright?" But there was no response. I started to cry again. "Jake!" I screamed. Why wasn't he responding? Then he started to move again, but something didn't seem right. I started to scream. He was changing right in front of my eyes. "JAKE! SOMEONE HELP US!" I started towards the door, and Jake struggled to get off the couch, and walk towards me. A moan came from his body. "T-that's not you, is it Jake? Jake? JAKE?"
That's when I started backing up towards the door. I tripped over the back step, and fell on my back. Jake walked towards me even faster, realizing that I was weak at the time. "Help!"
