The daylight stung Talitha's eyes as she wiped her bloody mouth, making sure not to get her new maid's uniform dirty, and escaped through the small kitchen door that led to the garden at the side of the house.
Keeping her head down, she hurried past inquisitive stares from other housekeepers and escaped down the busy road.
"Are you lost, ma'am?" A gentleman asked hopefully.
He admired her tall, slim physique and long blonde hair and smiled longingly in hope his wealthy attire would impress the anxious maid.
Oblivious to how her new feminine, human appearance was attracting the attention of the males walking by, Talitha ignored the man and looked around frantically to get her bearings.
"Are you looking for the market? It's just down this road and to your left. I don't want you to get in trouble for being tardy" the kind man helped and pointed to help the nervous ex troll.
Talitha looked ahead and took a deep breath.
"Market, yes! The house is near there!" She smiled to herself as she nodded and quickly ran down the road.
"I can escort you if you would like?" The man shouted but it was no use as Talitha was out of sight within minutes.
Men looked back with a flirtatious smile as the women grumbled and moaned in annoyance as the new maid ran past them with determination.
Her waist length hair flew into her face as she impatiently wafted it out of her way unable to focus on anything except getting to that house again.
"Will you look where you're going?" One pompous lady remarked as Talitha rounded the corner and bumped into a crowd of people.
She looked around with surprise as the bustling market was before her and admired all the shiny and tempting wears and foods on the stall that started to distract her from her main focus – to get to the Banks's residence before nightfall.
