Andrew may have been your best friend, but there were certain things you would never have the guts to tell him. He was way too oblivious to ever pick up on the signs you tried to show him. But Claire wasn't stupid, in fact, she saw the difference in the way you looked at him. When you were alone after successfully getting weed from Bender's locker, she gently brought up telling him. She knew it was hard to do, and she didn't know you too well, but she already knew you were perfect for each other. So you did tell him, in the most awkward and embarrassing way possible, stuttering over every word. But he didn't care, too happy with the fact that you liked him back.
