The feast was over and the group of Gryffindor first years followed after Percy Weasley.
"Gryffindor! Follow me please," Percy Weasley yelled.
Marlee was at the back of the group taking her time to look at every little detail of Hogwarts.
The group came to a stop in front of a stairwell that looked as if it went on forever.
"This is the best path to the Gryffindor common room! Keep an eye on the stairs they like to change," The red head Prefect said.
The group began to make their way up the stairs. Marlee looked at the paintings that line the wall. One of the paintings had a little girl in it, who waved to Marlee. Smiling, she waved back towards the painting.
"Keep up please," Percy Weasley called out.
Hurrying to catch up with the group Marlee turned away from the painting and continued the long walk to the common room. Percy led them out of the staircase into a passage that had a painting of a woman in a pink frilly dress.
"Password?" The painting asked.
Percy Weasley answered with "Caput Draconis."
The painting then swung open and a passage appeared, Marlee walked through with the group and was surprised to see that it led to a room that had gryffindor banners, a fireplace, and loads of couches and tables.
"Welcome to the Gryffindor common room, the boy's dormitory is upstairs to your left and the girl's is the same on your right. You'll find that all of your belongings have already been brought up." Percy Weasley informed the group.
The group then dispatched the boys going to the left and girls to the right. Marlee walked into her dorm room and saw that Journey was on her bed and her trunk was placed on the side. Too tired to talk to her new roommates. She changed into her Pajamas and layed down on her bed and closed her eyes. Sleep soon engulfed her.
---
Marlee woke up bright and early the next morning to write to her parents. She was dreading writing to them but she knew she had to do it. A little voice in the back of her head told her parents would not care what house she was in, but another voice much bigger told her she had let them down by not being slytherin. Taking out some parchment and a quill she began to write.
Dear Mother and Father,
I have been sorted into Gryffindor.
Sincerely, Marlee
Not knowing what to write she made it short and sweet, and right to the point. Putting the letter in an envelope, Marlee realized she has no idea where the owlery is. Sighing, Marlee placed her letter on her night stand and decided she would ask one of the older students at breakfast.
---
The great hall was pretty much empty with very few students. Marlee recognized a girl with brown frizzy hair as Hermione Granger, a first year student that she shared her dorm with. Marlee was walking over to sit with her but realized she was deep into her book, deciding not to disturb her, Marlee sat down a little ways from her and grabbed some toast and eggs. Eating her food quietly Marlee's eyes wandered around the great hall taking in every little detail.
Finishing up her breakfast Marlee looks at the letter in her hand sighing. She slides out of her seat and walks over to an older gryffindor that has short brown hair and brown eyes.
"Excuse me, can you tell me the way to the owlery?" Marlee asked, her voice coming out squeaky.
"Yes, you want to go straight then make a left, once you're outside the castle it should be straight ahead," the boy said in a thick Scottish accent.
