Takes place a few months after Part 24.

You stared at the pregnancy test, too stunned to say anything. The display clearly said 'pregnant', as if mocking you, making you feel like a complete fool. How could you be such an idiot? With everything going on in your life, you'd totally forgotten to change your birth control patch in time. You hadn't remembered until weeks later and now the consequences of your stupidity was staring back at you.

The knock on the bathroom door brought you crashing back to reality.

"What does it say?"

You opened the door to find your best friend anxiously awaiting your response. Davina was the one who had suggested you take the test when you'd complained to her about feeling queasy for a few days. Until she'd mentioned it, the idea of being pregnant hadn't even occurred to you.

She glanced at the test. "Shit. What are you going to do?"

Your stomach felt shaky, your knees weak. "I think I need to sit down."

Davina helped you to the couch and sat beside you while you stared blankly at the floor.

"You have to go see the doctor to confirm the test."

You remained silent, your mind scrambling with this unexpected news.

"And you need to talk to Billy."

Oh god, Billy. You stood up and started pacing the floor, panicking. "I don't even know... what the hell am I supposed to say to him? He won't be able to handle this. I know him-"

"He's a grown man. He'll learn to deal," Davina interjected. "How do you feel?"

"Like a fucking idiot," you muttered. "How could I have been so stupid? The damn thing was on my calendar and I still forgot!"

"Hey! Stuff happens. Things get in the way. It's happened to all of us."

You sat back down on the sofa, feeling numb again.

"Do you want a kid?"

Davina's question echoed in your brain. "I don't know... it's not something I've ever thought about."

"I mean, you and Billy are in a good place right now. Maybe this baby is the next step for you guys."

"He refuses to get a puppy with me, I doubt he'll be okay about a baby."

"Yeah well, it's not up to him. This is your decision."

That was the thing. It was your decision, except you had no idea what to do. So you did what you always did when you were panicking. You made a plan. Step 1. Make a doctor's appointment. Step 2 – fuck. You couldn't plan for Step 2 until you knew if there was an actual reason to freak out. "I should go. Billy's probably home by now."

"Are you going to tell him?"

"No. There's no point in us both freaking out."

You stood up and got ready to leave.

"Let me drive you home."

You wanted to be alone but maybe driving when you were such a wreck wasn't a good idea. "You don't mind?"

"Of course not."

There were so many things Davina didn't know about you. Sometimes you felt guilty because she was such a good person and, well, you had a tendency to skirt around moral complications, but you were grateful to have her in your life. "Thanks."

"Unless you want me to call Billy to come get you?" she prodded.

You cast her an anxious glance, which she understood right away.
